How did those 35 barges get to the middle of the Mississipp River channel? (I know for an absolute fact that's in the channel  )
Which direction are they heading? I already know the answers I'm just checking to see how long it takes GD to figure it out. I guess I could provide a hotlink: Clicky |

No submarines, but you get style points for creative thinking. If you look real close, and know what to look for (clue:you can use other boats for reference) you will see it. |

That barge is pushing it? No. That's just a barge with different cargo, nothing special about it other than it's the only one of it's kind in that tow. Something is definitely "missing" LOL. |

(Maresk container ships) It isn't about to be swapped. If anyone has a right to call 35 barges a raft, I guess it would be those humongo container ships. LOL. Google has changed the image. You got real close earlier. You can just barely see the front of the towboat that should be there. I grew up in this area and on the river. My dad was a towboat captain all my life and I worked one summer as a deckhand. I was just looking at the area when I noticed this and it made me WTF for a bit until I saw what they did.

Looks like the blended to photos together, but for some reason they cut out the towboat. When I saw it I was like Damn that is going to make a hell of a mess in about a minute! The river in that area is moving pretty well. 35 loaded barges would smack into the bank, break apart and wreak havoc for miles. |

If you look at the port of LA / Long Beach there are a bunch of the gantry cranes (the huge cranes that move containers on and off ships) that have been removed and drawn back in with what looks like MS Piant.. In older pics some ships were removed as well..
Never figured that one out.. Most of the cranes are still there and these thing can be seen by millions of people every day.. Odd.. |

I live about 6 miles from the Mississippi. I think the oddest satellite shot I've seen was a Southwest Airlines airplane that looked like it was down in the woods. I had to zoom in to see if some redneck had pulled one into their place, it's completely believable. |

On my monitor I can see different shades where the photos are stitched together. For whatever reason the image of the barges themselves is from a different satellite image from the image the tug would be in. I can see the shading line from the separate image running vertical right down to the rear of the barges. Looks like the splicing of the images was not quite precise where the tugboat should be.
Odd though the barge traffic just south of the one is question heading opposite direction appears to almost be grounded against the bank. |

They do that to hold position when another boat is making the turn. Downstream traffic has ROW he has to wait for the other boat to make the bend too. Heading in to the bank makes it real easy to hold steady against the current. |
