Anyone watch the season premiere the other night?
What was the AR or round Sue used to kill the grizzly? I am thinking 458 Socom, I know she has a 45/70 lever action and after reading some of this info http://wilsoncombat.com/new/458-socom-project.asp |

I am not a hunter but that wouldn't be my choice round for a Grizzly. Thanks Quoted:

.308, you could see the rounds when she was loading the magazines. I am not a hunter but that wouldn't be my choice round for a Grizzly. Thanks You can kill anything in North America with a 308. To add. I saw a hunter on TV kill a lion with a bow so talent goes along way too. Plus people use 44mags for bear protection and those are substantially less powerful than a 308. |

Don't disagree, I would take nothing less then a 300 win mag or 338 Lapua, personally,I am sure the right load also helps. I have bear were I live and I have my shotgun loaded with Brenneke, that should do just fine till I get my 45/70. I have Counter Assault Bear Spray and I trust that as well, but I trust shot placement over most everything. |

Brian "pigman" qucca bagged a loin, lioness, sable, and a Nyla with a bow. He is a bad man with a bow |

That means in can travel 100 yards in less than six seconds. A semi auto in .308 is the way to go. A heavy, bolt action, hard recoiling .338LM with high magnification is going to be dangerously slow. |

People killed bears with black powder rifles way before the high velocity rounds we have now. But I am not a hunter so I have no direct experience with killing bears or anything like that. |

338 Lapua for grizzly bears is just silly Also, don't treat all bears the same, grizz is a whole different beast than even a big black bear. IF you are hunting bears, to a degree you control the situation. In that case a medium weight bolt gun that can easily be fired from prone, kneeling, or standing and handle short, medium, or long range shots is desirable...and you might as well get it in a cartridge that is potent, so 300 winmag, the various 30 cal ultramags, and the 338 winmag or similar rounds is what you want. But even a top level 30-06 with a heavy bullet would be a fine choice. A 338 Lapua is going to be too heavy and generally set up for long distance 'time is not a big factor' prone shooting...not many 338 lapua woods rifles. Now, for bear defense you generally don't control the situation, you are reacting to it. Having 20 rounds of 308 you can shoot as fast as you can get sights back on bearfur is a GOOD thing. Here having a LOT of something of decent power is better than having a bit more power. The other extreme is also good...a low capacity but very fast handling rifle that has something VERY POWERFUL, like 375 H&H or bigger. A lever gun with a serious cartridge is a good choice too. Really, the semiauto 20 round 308 is the same philosophy as a hard hitting lever gun just modernized. Again, neither of these would be optimal HUNTING choices, but make excellent defense choices. |

Good friend of mine has taken brown bears on Kodiak, and in Prince William sound with a 30-06. His reason was simple, shoot a bear before he knows you're there, no adrenaline, dead bear. As to a bear running 40 mph, that's got nothing to do with his actions after shot, his heart beats only 36 times per minute, so if you take the heart out, he can still travel about 40-50 yds before he knows he's dead. With that said I hunted with a .375 H&H in Alaska, a .308, .270, even .45acp have taken bears, but I like the type of caliber that can break bones easily, bears don't crawl too fast. |

Quoted: She is full retard. "that fucking lone wolf about 2 miles out yonder is stalking me and I better pop off a round with this .22 rifle so he knows that I know he is watching my every move and plotting to eat me at the first chance he gets. you're not at the top of the food chain out here" |

Sue is the most annoying person on TV. She has been alone so long she can't shut up, no filter from brain to mouth.
Oh, she is completely full of crap too. It seems she talks to hear herself and to convince herself she is amazing awesome at survival. I DVR the show and fast forward her segments. |
