So, having just watched Officer Bullethead get all worked up over the teenager "following him around", it all of a sudden hit me. Just what is the etymology of "trolling" as it relates to shenanigans on the interwebz and/or shenanigans in the real world?
I can see it two ways: You're trolling as you might troll for lake trout, hoping to hook a trollee, make him to lose his cool, and give you some good potato-cam footage, OR You're trolling as in the troll under the bridge, who exists solely to make life miserable for hapless travelers on their way St. Ives. What say ye, Arfcom? (Poll inbound) |
