I hope one of you has an answer for me. I am running windows 7. I was unable to click on a desk top icon and go to the program. Also when in internet explorer when I attempted to highlight and delete the web address a line would appear on the left and move to the right and restore what I had deleted, back space was the same. I ran malware bytes and found no troubles. I had to get to Norton via the start button since the icons would not work. Norton removed tracking cookies and that seemed to fix the trouble. However, the trouble returns... I suspect after I visit my yahoo to check my mail. I have changed my yahoo password but it still does it. I am not going to yahoo and see if my machine remains trouble free. I would like to keep my yahoo mail so if you have any ideas I could use some help. Thanks, John

also it will not stay in sleep mode it comes back on after a few seconds

AVG 9 can cause those problems.
If you have a 64 bit system, dump Internet Explorer and use another browser.

For the sleep problem:
Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Network adapters -> Right mouse click on your network adapter -> Properties -> Power Management (tab) -> Uncheck 'Allow this device to wake the computer'.

Thanks, I'm not running AVG9. I'm using Norton. I wonder if I need a new computer?

You don't need a new computer. Just a better anti virus. also stop using yahoo for your mail.

I just noticed the right arrow key was stuck down by a piece of kitty litter. I know how that happened. I wonder if that was the cause of my trouble?

yes a stuck key can cause all kinds of havoc.
if youre going to use IE, go tools, internet options, (copy your home page). go to the advance tab and reset your browser. close it . reopen - the tools, internet options and paste back your home page

One nice thing about this is that I am going to stick with Firefox, I was already using thunderbird for my email so I will give internet explorer a rest for awhile

Yes, I do, my pal is pretty clean so I am not concerned. Everything works great now so I am happy. I learn something new every day.

Without reading thread:  stuck key

Double tap CTRL, ALT, SHIFT, open notepad and try to type, a text editor usually lets you see if there's a keyboard problem straight off.
