Since when isn't a social security card proof you are a US citizen?
Glad I called before hand because I just read the bold printed text on the DMV's website stating one of the requirments being proof of citizenship but according to the lady at the DMV my SSN card is not a valid form of "proof of citizenship" . Need an official birth certificate or passport. Passport is in a safety deposit box in another state, off to try and find my birth certificate I suppose. I love .gov bureaucracy 
Never had to do more than show up with a valid DL, SSN card, and a bank/utility bill in my name to get another DL. |

| They added the SSN card and thumbprint in Texas to get "dead beat" Dad's who don't pay child support. By all means DO NOT laminate your SSN card. I almost had to draw down and blade at a 45 as the managers and a State Trooper about spread me out prone for actually trying to preserve my SSN card. |
