[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Surveillance camera man (Page 1 of 2)

I am thinking the camera guy is going out of his way to be obtrusive and get in folks faces to get a reaction . I am also thinking he will likely get a beat down at some point
Filming in public , legal in most cases but depending on how you go about it not always a smart thing |

Quoted:
I love his videos and the irrational anger of the people who don't want -him- to videotape them, but ignore the 4,000 other cameras that capture their image every day. That said, he's going to end up hurt. What makes me laugh is when he does it and there are like four cameras IN THE SHOT and people start screaming, "Stop recording meeee!!!!!!" That, I think, is the point of what he is doing for anyone smart enough to figure it out. |

Me, Id say Hi to mom, do a little dance and maybe even sing. No need for a rational person to become angry. |

A blast of pepper spray in his face will stop it. He's an obnoxious idiot and should be treated as so. No, let's go ahead and throw a nice near felony assault on camera. Do you pepper spray the people behind the counter at Taco Bell when you see that they're recording you with ten cameras too? The Bank? The police officer? Perhaps your ire is somewhat misplaced. |

I dont get why people get pissed, they are probably on over 100 cameras a day in the city. They get all pissy with this guy and then pay zero attention to all the survailence around them. idiots. I dont like to have my picture taken without my permission, in public or private. But so long as it is legal to do so bforthe state and private business, it is okay for regular people to play dumbass games on the street.

I voted "No." While it's legal (except for the trespassing, etc.), it's a douche thing to do. So, it's not "ok."
ETA: There's probably an anti-stalking law that he's breaking somewhere in there. __________________________________________________________________ Cross-platform electronic bound book (original thread). PGP public key. «nolite confidere in principibus, in filiis hominum quibus non est salus» |

Quoted: Most everything has already been said: -Yup, it's legal -Yup, it's creepy -He's asking for an ass beating -You could articulate a pepper spray exposure (I was threatened because he wouldn't leave me alone) You have no "Right" to be left alone in public. Thats like saying your going to mace the girl at the perfume counter at Macys when she sprays perfume in front of you as you walk by. Some people have a strange idea of what Public means.

You guys comparing this to security cameras are hilarious. Security cameras hanging on a wall are the exact same thing as some weirdo standing a foot away from you and holding a camera inches from your face, right?
This isn't some "deep" look at society being content with always being under video surveillance. This is just an asshole out for reactions. |

And you have no right to annoy me when I am in a public place either. |

I would like to say that I would have been the shit out of the guy myself... But I tend to avoid conflicts (because every fight/ conflict I have there will always be at least one person with a gun |
