I was recently going through some old boxes of junk and found my old Marksman "Packalong" folding slingshot. I bought it when I was about 11 years old and carried it everywhere when I was a kid. I used to shoot it every day in the summer and could drill a soda can every time at 50 feet. There is no telling how many birds and squirrels met a 1/4" ball bearing of death fired from this thing.

I ordered a couple "high velocity" tapered bands with magnetic pouches from amazon and picked up a cheap Daisy band to hold me over until they arrive. I've been practicing with it on a Shoot-N-See target in the back yard today. I had forgotten how much fun this thing is. With the scarcity of .22LR these days, I might have to go back to a slingshot full time.

Anyone else still have a slingshot?

Picked up a simple shot slingshot last year. I take it bow hunting as I often see squirrels as well. It is a fun  item to have. I really need to practice more to get consistent.

I had a wrist rocket as a kid.  I have no idea where it went.

OP it looks like you may have just cost me some money!  Off to amazon.

Wrist rocket is my last resort.

I buy bulk sacks of 000 buck for ammunition.  Well,  I'm still on the same sack.

Pretty confident I could crack a man's skull from 20 paces.

We used to shoot carp with them. We used marbles.

When I was a kid the town run below the sewage treatment plant was so deprived of O2 the carp would rise and take a glup of air. There would be hundreds of them doing that. Talk about your shooting gallery.

My cousin and I got Wrist Rockets for Christmas the same year.
When the first sets of tubing wore out and broke, we replaced them with some heavy-duty surgical tubing that his Mom, (a nurse) acquired for us.

You could hunt elk with them, once we got strong enough to actually pull them back!

At the shop where I worked we used those to ambush each other with paintballs. Took a special touch to draw and shoot a paintball without breaking it.

Oh, and yes, they hurt. A lot.

Yep, had a place where carp and gar would constantly surface. We would shoot til we ran outta ammo.

Been totally hooked on them for the past few years and use Trumarks. Since there's a Bass Pro nearby, I have plenty of spare tubes. Avoid the Daisey slingshots as they're flimsy junk and the handles will break, possibly injuring you. For ammo I use 3/8" steel, .36 lead, .54 lead, .69 lead and arrows. In the backyard I can destroy soda cans out to 45+ feet. The problem with slingshots is that most people don't use the right grip or stance and aren't willing to put in the practice.

Check out Master Billy Hays, Madison Parker ( former SEAL, not the porno gal ), pfshooter and plenty of others on YouTube. Check out slingbows too, it gives you the ability to launch arrows from a slingshot with enough power to nail small game to the ground.

I have a Wrist Rocket that belonged to my grandfather.  I used to be very good with it.  I should try to find it and get a new band for it.

As a 14 year old kid, I took out a window of what I thought was an abandoned building at 33 yards with it.  It turned out someone lived there and the rock almost hit them.  The guy chased my friend and I down and made us replace the window.  Somehow no cops or parents were involved.

I always have mine in my hunting backpack. The rancher that we lease from said that was the best way to teach the calves to stay away from our feed pens. Oh man, he should have never told me that. I've never had so much fun with a sling shot and a pocket full of rocks

Wrist rocket kicks butt.  Marbles for great and cheap ammo.
Bring your marbles up to boil in a pot, dump the hot water and add cold water.
This will fracture the marbles so they shatter when they hit something.

I hear that it keeps people from shooting them back at you also.

Trumarks are made in the US of A (kolorado).  I own one and know someone who works for them.  They're priced just fine, too.

They're illegal in Massachusetts as well.

Quite a few years back Toys R Us had to pull all their Koosh ball shooters off the shelves in Mass because technically they were slingshots.

WTF is it with busy-body control freaks?   In my book, it's your inherent right to own them, they're arms  and they're protected by the 2nd.

Recently picked up a box lot (misc. crap in a box) at an auction with one in it plus a bunch of ammo. So I dug up the other 2 or 3 that were laying around and spent some time indoor shooting this winter. At 20' was keeping them in a 3.5" circle at the end.

Take.  My.  Money.

My grandpa carried slingshots all his life and could bust hell out of critters at the back of his garden.  When I was a teenager he made one from a piece of milking machine hose that he split.  That one was so powerful I couldn't draw it without breaking my wrist until I was 16 or 17 years old, and I struggled then.  Grandpa was lifetime farmer and just about the strongest man I've known.

LOL....I just went to Wally World and picked-up a Barnett Black Widow and have a Trumark on the way.

You know what the sad part is? I had to go to the fucking craft section to find marbles. They don't stock marbles in the toy dept. anymore.

The reason I like marbles (.50") is they are heaver at around 92 gr than the steel balls at about 54 gr.. They do not penetrate to kill. They use blunt force trauma. The use of heavier ammo also makes the bands last longer.

Wally World had the Black Widow for $9.97 and the bag of marbles was $4.50. That's a lot of fun for around $15.00.

Oh yeah, no .22s.
