I love it.  Arfcom, on the other hand, is the only site that I've disabled AdBlock.  I want to see the ads on Arfcom.

Really? So buying a membership will block ads on other sites?

Adblock is fucking awesome.

all for it, as well as anything else that makes my browsing experience safer such as flashblock, cookie monster, and no script
but I've been paying for a membership for probably over a decade so I feel no guilt about using it on arfcom. a few months before I first paid I would have said it's crazy to pay to post on a forum, but then I attended a meet up after a gun show and met the Avilas and multiple other members including some mods and staff and decided to pay up

Yes it will. It will even provide your kids with a college tuition and a vacation to HI.

At the moment the only reason not to use adblock/adblock plus is out of sympathy for the content providers, which is going to be difficult for them to garner considering that they brought it largely on themselves and the fact that browsing the web is safer without all the suspicious ads popping up.

Some news sites and tabloids are the absolute worst, 50kb of text and a small jpeg for the article but megabytes of banner ads, autoplaying videos etc.

You can disable the extensions on certain sites, but if you just hate web ads entirely but want to support individuals there are sites like Patreon. For arfcom vendors...I've bought stuff from DD, EOtech, Magpul, Quantico Tactical, Widener's, etc. based on talks in the forums rather than any ads.

A lot of modern malware is transmitted through infected advertisements. AdBlock protects against this.

A good ad blocker and a free antivirus program such as Avast or AVG will protect you from most viruses your likely to run into.

Not expensive in the grand scheme of things just expensive for what you get. After all who doesn't have $25, adblock is free.

Your mileage may vary.

Sheesh.  Show me one other place that can provide as much information and entertainment as GD.  When that crazy rockhead ex-cop Donner went asymmetrical, GD provided scanner feeds and personal insight from many LEO's in the area.  I listened live as the on scene commander order up more burners, which was pretty much a death sentence for Donner.  And a decision I agree with.

And who could forget the cones?

If you hang around for any length of time, if you go past GD and poke around in the Tech Forums, you will realize that $24 a year is a paltry sum for the vast experience that is ARFCOM.

Which AdBlock are we talking about? Different browsers have different AdBlock extensions, none of which are run by the same people for the most part; some browsers even have two or more AdBlock offerings.

For the Chrome browser, I use this AdBlock product, which is the most popular extension for Chrome, Safari, and Opera. Scroll down to the FAQ: see the first question, "Who is behind AdBlock"? Michael has been a friend of mine for over a decade; he stood for me at my wedding. Here's a picture of him shooting on my property.

He and his wife are deeply liberal.    I've been working on them for years and years.

The other gentleman in the photo is not me, but another one of my good friends, whose brother made the cover story of Time Magazine back in 2012.

i've been using some form or another of ad blocking for at least 15 years.

And no, the team memberships do not get rid of all the advertisements. Only the ones posted in the OPs. you still have the rows of banner ads at the tops and bottom of the page.

Adblock takes care of those annoying ads tho.
