Guy was trying to make a point about how we all gave pre-programmed responses to certain actions....or some such fucking non-sense, guy is a complete tool.

Anyway....tool knows I have a 3 year old daughter and says this....

"Say I came over your house and started killing your daughter....you'd try to kill me, right?"

I told him I'd like to kill him just for asking that question.

Am I crazy or is the question completely inappropriate?

I think he proved his point.  He's an major ass hole though.

ETA: I would have replied the same way you did OP.

I don't know if that's a preprogrammed response as much as it is an obvious response.

Someone saying "good" or "well" after you ask them "how are you?" is a preprogrammed response.

"if you were drowning and I threw you a life preserver would you grab it?"  "yes"... obvious response not preprogrammed.

Defending your family to the fullest extent of the law is obvious, not preprogrammed.

Incidentally the correct answer to his question is "No, I wouldn't try to kill you...I would"

I think the proper answer would have been "No, I wouldn't try, I would."

Yeah, agreed.

A predictable response is not the same as a per-programmed one.

Try to kill? I'd slice your head off, cut your penis off, put it your mouth and shove it up your ass with your now severed right arm while telling you to go fuck yourself.

That guy is a douchebag...would avoid at all cost.

I would have told him that I wouldn't 'try', I would succeed...and then would have fingerpainted with his blood, washed off and had a snack.

Just so that he got the point across.

Anytime someone asks me something like that I respond with something crazy and over the top.

Next time just let him know that you enjoy Rape, torture, and ending entire bloodlines.    Not necessarily in that order.

This is a public forum on the internet.  If you are involved in a self defense type shooting your posts may end up in evidence... Just a thought.

That's over the line for sure. I would have 1st told him he needed to apologize. What happen after that would have been all on him.

Would you react the same way if he said "say some guy breaks into your house and starts killing your daughter"?

There's really no context here but it sounds like it was a poorly worded hypothetical and rhetorical question and not much more.

You apparently got into a debate with some guy, who could be a friend/ relative/ coworker/random bar guy/etc. and he throws out some hypothetical situation trying to make his point and you'd like to kill him over it?
