I'm having what appears to be a battery meter issue with my Droid Mini running 4.4 (Kit Kat).  The screen shot below pretty well demonstrates the problem.  The battery appears to drain very fast, but then sits on 1% for a very long time - I didn't put it on the charger until after midnight (screen shot was 9:30) and it still wasn't dead.  Here are the things I've tried:

-Bump charging
-Run it down until it dies, then charge to 100% with phone off
-Multiple factory resets and cleared cache
-Sent it to Motorola with the expectation they would replace the battery, but instead the re-flashed something (don't remember the term they used).

None of this has worked and I'm at my wit's end trying to get it figured out.  The phone is fully functional, but I can't tell when I'm truly low on battery and I use it a lot for work.  It can cause issues because I host a lot of conference calls.  Can any of you help me PLEASE?!?

You should be able to boot it into the service menu (not sure how on a Droid, sorry) and clear the software memory of the battery's charge level.

Hopefully someone will be along shortly who can tell you how to do that on an HTC(?).

That's what I thought the factory reset and cache wipe would do, but no luck there.

That's a Hell of a lot of calls to eat up 44% of battery life.

you are complaining about battery suckage from 14 hours of usage?

It's only 2.5 hours worth.  You have to remember that it is only 44% of the usage until it dropped to 1% then it stops tracking anything.

Are you seeing the same trend when you're not on calls a lot during the day or during one discharge cycle?

I'm complaining that the phone was saying the battery was dead for 5 of those 14 hours.  So I can never tell when my battery is actually getting low.

Yeah.  I get the same tend no matter what.  It's worse with heavy usage, but no matter what the battery appears to drain fast and then sits on 1% for a long time.

Usually I use the Griffin dock, which is the only dock sold on Motorola's site.  I have a bunch of chargers, so I'm not 100% sure whether I've ever done a full charge cycle on a Motorola charger.

If your phone is rooted or you're capable of rooting it, it's an easy process to reset your battery stats from the phones recovery menu.

If it isn't, this is the only way I know of to reset the battery stats.

Buying a new battery won't reset the phones battery stats either.

i went throught 6 motorola droids/ droids 2 with various issues.   one thing i learned in 4 years of troubleshooting on the forums was to always use the motorola authentic chargers and cables

So you've done factory reset and Motorola re-flashed something, but you're still on the OEM battery the phone came with?

Yeah, they told me they were going to replace the battery when I sent it in, but they didn't.  I'm going to try running it dead again and use a genuine Motorola charger.  As unlikely as that seems to be the issue, I'll try anything at this point.  I'm also going to call Motorola again on Monday.

I've read that if you clear the cache,  run the battery down until the phone is dead then fully recharge the phone the battery meter should reset.

First, XDA-Developers.com is your friend. Read and search.

Have you tried GSam Battery Monitor from the app store? Download that, and see what it says as well.
