I've been trying different stuff, but I keep coming back to the Balvenie 12 Year Doublewood.  I picked up a big bottle of Glenlivet 12 Year tonight.

What next?

If you like the doublewood 12 you will love the portwood 21 year.

Don't forget the Balvenie Caribbean Cask.

Balvenie's lineup is my favorite.

Try Dalwhinnie for a very smooth, honey-like taste. The Dalmore is also worth a foray.

Ha.  I almost ordered a glass of that at a bar in St. Pete one night.  Then I saw the price.  I 'm glad I didn't.

I have the Balvenie Portwood 21yo some friends got me when my son was born.  Its great but too many dollhairs for everyday drinking.  I like Glenlivet and the Balvenie 12 too.  the Glenfiddich 12 is a good drinker too.

I love the Doublewood.  And Glenlivet 12.  And Lagavulin.  And Laphroaig.  And Oban.  And Glennmorangie.  I bought a bottle of McAllan one time, I like it OK.

In that price range?

Dalmore 12
Glen Moray 16
Ardbeg 10
Glenmoringie 10 ( The Budweiser of scotch, but its smooth)

I love the Glenlivet, but there are a lot better in the 10-12 year range.

That runs about twice what Balvenie 12 double wood costs.

Also good.
I have not found a bad whiskey/whisky.    Just some I like more than others.

Older is generally better.     But I like my Glenlivet 21 better than my 25.   The 25 is too oaky.

Macallan 12 and Glenlivet 15 are what I prefer, followed by the Glenlivet 12.  I got a bottle of Johnny Walker Double Black on Friday, which is a nice change from the rest; it's more harsh in the mouth and smooth going down.  I've got a bottle of the Glenlivet 21 too, but I'm waiting for Feinstein to die before I crack it open.

From the recommendations here it looks like I'll be getting some Balvenie the next time I'm at Spec's.
