Where've you been, how much did it cost, what did you like, what didn't you like? My fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon. We will have 9 nights, 10 days $6K. I like it warm so I'm thinking tropic vacation in say November. He wants to go to Italy in June. In a nut shell we haven't been anywhere so we're open. Any info you can give I would appreciate it. |

I'd suggest BVI for a honeymoon, but not sure that budget will swing it. Maybe USVI? What does this mean? It means if I were to suggest the best place on earth for a honeymoon, I'd send you to the British Virgin Islands. The problem is the budget you've got would be good for about 7 days, but not 9-10 days. The US Virgin Islands are almost as beautiful, a little easier to fly in to, but have.... less pleasant people inhabiting them. |

Quoted: Me and my fiancée just booked a 7 day honeymoon at Secrets an all adult all inclusive resort in Punta Cana for about $3400. I'm by no means a world traveler but it seems like a decent price, and all the reviews seemed pretty positive. |

He wants to go to Italy in June. Unless you have some frequent flyer miles to burn up, the airfare alone will exceed your $6k budget. Going tomorrow for 12 days through Milan, Florence, Pisa, and Rome. Airfare would have been $7900 for both of us. With frequent flyer miles from my fiance's mom, the airfare came down to $1400 for both of us. Took 160,000 frequent flyers miles. Good thing her mom flies a lot for her job!!! Right now we are just about $4400 into this with airfare, hotels, train tickets, 5 tours, Rome/Vatican passes, and Oyster card for London transportation on layover. Only thing to cover is food and taxi. |

| Got married and honeymooned in thailand. We got wedding money from everyone as well all in all probably about $2k outta pocket. Was there for about 2.5wks. You can travel for cheap in mexico there are a million places to go, usvi is also pretty affordable as well as bahamas. |

Skip the usual Cancun, etc and look at The State of Oaxaca and/or Oaxaca city. I spent a week there in a 5 star hotel on a culinary vacation learning authentic Mexican cooking and didn't spend more than $2500. The southern coast has some great beaches from what I hear. It would help to speak spanish at least a little, but The first time I went I didn't speak a word and did ok. |

What kind of things did you do guys do? He's a lot more active than I am. I like to hike but more than anything lay on the beach. He wants things to do, excitement and adventure. In that case - go to Costa Rica Hit up the beaches on the Pacific, head through the cloud forest and then travel inland to La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano) and do some rappelling through waterfalls, a nice rain forest canopy walk, white water rafting or mountain biking, then maybe a zip line over the canopy before heading back to the Pacific to fly home or down to San Jose to catch a flight home. While you are at La Fortuna if you don't want to do some of the more adventurous excursions, send Mr. QueenDeNile out to do them and you can go and soak in the natural hot springs or take a relaxing mud bath, or just sit back and sip some wine, read a good book, and watch boulders tumble down the side of the Arenal Volcano. 10 days in Costa Rica can be done easily within your budget, with wiggle room. It is the one place that Mrs. Undefined came close to forcing me to sell my business interests and not boarding the flight home (we came very close to staying there permanently, it is that beautiful, fun, and amazing). |

If you have any questions (especially about the La Fortuna / Arenal area), send me a PM. My wife and I spent 8 days in La Fortuna, and it was arguably 8 of the best days of our lives. We did not go to the beach (Pacific coast is generally preferred), as Costa Rica was our "inland" vacation after several beach vacations. Things to do in/around La Fortuna (and our opinion of it on a scale of 1-10): Horseback ride up the side of the Arenal Volcano: 8 (protip - under no circumstances should you do what we did and schedule this on the same day you mountain bike ride up the other side of the volcano. Your husband will never forget the experience, and the chance of getting lucky that night is somewhere been slim and none.) Mountain Bike Ride up the other side of the Arenal Volcano: 10 (see protip above. Neither Mrs. Undefined nor I bike anywhere, but the trek was not too extreme. Beautiful scenery, riding on roads not paths so if you remember how to ride a bike you'll be fine, great chance to get outside and see the jungle) Rain forest nature walk: 6 (low impact, relaxing, but we were looking for a bit more extreme. You could probably do this on crutches or in a wheel chair) Rappelling through waterfalls: 10+++ (one of the coolest things we've ever done. you do not need any climbing experience. it is guided, well operated, and was a blast. bring a waterproof camera) Cave / Spelunking: 0 (I don't remember the name of the cave, but don't go. DO NOT GO. STOP. Unless you want to spent two hours a few hundred meters underground surrounded by bat shit and water, at times with your chin under water and your head hitting the ceiling, don't do this. One of the worst experiences my wife and I have ever had, and we've been around quite a bit. I'd rather have a root canal without Novocaine while enduring a rectal examination than do this one again.) White Water Rafting (can't remember the names of the rivers): 6 - 8, depends on which river and time of year (Lots of fun, but it can be done domestically just as easily. I'd cut this out if I were looking to save on time/money Zip Line (Sky Tram): 9 (very cool. Mrs. Undefined was a bit nervous, but it went great and was amazing. Not at all like the short zip lines found in the states.) I can't remember what all else we did, but those were the highlights. |

I went to Jamaica in 2006 with my (at the time) girlfriend and her family. We stayed at a Beaches resort but you'd want to go with the Sandals resorts. All inclusive, but there's no end of excursions if you want to go to say, Dunn's River Falls(popular tourist spot to hike to the top of the falls, I didn't go but many of the people in her party did. Also lots of stuff to do on the resort(ie snorkeling, boating, water sports).
A lot of people will say that Jamaica is a crime ridden hole but when you go out, just so long as you don't buy any weed and just are nice to everyone they'll be nice to you and then some. |

I enjoyed Thailand, but the price to get there is the worst part. Once you are there it's cheaper then most other places you might visit. |
