I don't give a rat's ass about Quiznos, but Sbarro I really like.

I can remember a time when Quiznos used to make a really good sub. I suspect they expanded too fast just after the housing boom.

A former co-worker of mine didn't like Quizno's because he thought it was expensive when compared to Subway, and it is. I told him if money was that tight then he should be bringing his lunch to work and not going out for it to begin with. |

They had a pepper bar that was a weird commercial. with the singing... rats? Sponge monkeys Spongmonkeys... they were spongmonkeys. Whatever the fuck that is. ETA: The pepper bar was a cool idea... until I ate some and it gave me a pretty bad case of trap-door-ass (tried it a couple times on the name of science... it was definitely the pepper bar). |

I was a fan of Quiznos,I don't think it was the food that sunk them so much as the ownership not understanding how to run the franchises.

Come to think of it the local Q did close a while ago.
Crowded market. Like them or not, but Subway is beating everyone's brains out. |

They had a pepper bar that was a weird commercial. with the singing... rats? That had to be one of the most bizarre advertising campaigns known to man. Talk about a F-uped mascot. Wonder if the guy approving that strategy and/or the marketing firm are still working? You'd be better off having the characters from THE HILLS HAVE EYES sell your shit for you. Chris |

You can't understand your market place you don't deserve to be in business

So what will that mean for the franchise owners?
Around here, most of the Quiznos (and Subways, as well) are owned by Indians. Will there suddenly be a lot of Patel's Subs in place of Q's? |

My local quiznos, before it closed. Went 3 months with what looked like some sort of animal feces on the front window before having it removed.
Quiznos is disgusting. |

Quoted: I like Sbarro's. View Quote I grew up down the street from the Mario Sbarro family. The kids were spoiled brat assholes, and every one of them was dumb as a stump. If you look at the history of the company, you'll see none of Gennaro's grandkids ever ran the company. The company's big break was getting the franchise rights for rest stops along the NY Thruway. Between rest stops, airports, and food courts, that covers most of the Sbarro locations. Great model - captive audiences. Very few, if any, stand-alone restaurants. It was never great food - it was convenient food for people who wanted to eat. Never liked Quiznos either. |

View Quote They REALLY got into it with their franchises. That was the killer. Personally, I think all the menu changes and seeming confusion about market segment was a big problem, but it's hard to say if that would have killed them.

From my understanding from a few people running Quiznos franchises is HQ bled them dry. Very little profit for the guy running the store. A number of people in S FL just walked away from the franchises they bought. :( |

I enjoyed them both for what they were, but Sbarro holds a special place as a staple of my youth. I spent many weekends around a mall and ate plenty of Sbarro as a result. It's definitely better than Dominos.

I've noticed a lot of the Jizznos around town closing up shop in the last year or so.
I was not very fond of their saltly rubber sandwiches.... then again ever since the Penn Station opened up in the new shopping center near my house I don't even remember Quiznos exists. |

i preferred quiznos over subway but quiznos prices kept going up a few years ago and their subs got smaller, and then anytime i went the place was ALWAYS empty. last year my local one closed its doors.
eta: eating a Milio's sub at the moment. |
