I know some of you frequented both boards, and I just have a small favor to ask. I just read more of the posts thanking them for their efforts and I noticed something which bothered me. Please bear with me on this. A quality site, run by class acts in the community, and frequented by some great people is closing it's doors. Everyone should thank the staff for their wonderful efforts and wish Rich the best of luck in life. He dedicated a large part of who he is and what he believed in to keep that site running. Scattered through the topic were posts asking members to "hang out here" or "check my site out" and it hurt to read. As I said, I can understand those of you who loved both places feeling a sense of loss and asking that some of the group come join you, but to someone touched by his efforts, it seemed petty to me. I honestly hope the crew there finds a place (or places) where they can continue the fight against the anti's and work to keep our freedoms intact. This has been a rough day for Rich and his members, and I only ask that you thank him for his efforts and do not throw AR15.Com into their faces. People are free to come here and will no doubt be welcomed with open arms, but to "plug" the site before the body is cold just seems wrong. It's as if all these sites are vultures feeding off someone's efforts. I spoke with Rich privately today offering what I could to help his members and to ensure he was happy. As I mentioned in the other post about this, it takes a LOT of effort to run a site of this magnitude. What makes a site special is the people and the feeling of belonging and friendship. TFL had that, it made a difference, it had a message, please don't take from it by posting links. I'm sorry if this seems stupid, but I feel it is simply giving them respect they have earned. I also appreciate the strong ties you have toward this site and each other, and how you want others to experience similar emotions. Those who wish, will come on their own. Thanks and sorry for the rant. [=)] |

FYI there is a thread on alternate sites where this stuff is more than welcome. I highly suggest you check out SWAT magazine and see what drives the man who ran TFL! [=)] |
