you guys are totally wrong.  The movie is more about how companies and hospitals screw you over.  money talks and humanity walks.  John q lives in a very small town.  the company changed their health plan.  in the movie he is tring to get a better job. he goes to the interview and there are 300 applicants for 1 position.  anyhow, he raises money for a transplant, but the hospital basically denies the john q the surgery due to the lack of funds.  He kid needs a heart transplant.  in the mean time, the hospital is willing to give a 65 year old man a heart transplant because he has money.  the movie is not a "i will kill unless you help me" movie.  It shows how much read tape and crap our health system is full of.  and at some point people must stand up for what is right.  like all the other protest that has happened in our country.  someone has to stand up for what is right.  in that case he would trade his own life for his sons.  at one point he was going to kill himself so that his son could have his heart.  the movie is very good.  i suggest watching it before stereo typing it.

found out that he had an HMO health plan berfore.  they could have seen this earlier, but the hmo does some shady things.  like pay doctors not to do test.  things like that. anyhow  the old guy was there just to show that the system is jacked up.  young kid that has a life to live was rejected while an older man that has lived a great number of years gets a new heart soley because of money.  john q held up the the hospital to get his kids name on a waiting list.  the hospital wouldnt even do that much.  said it was better just to let him die.  rent it.  it will make you think,  especially if you have kids or you are close to some young kids.  made my girlfriend cry all through the movie.  i won some brownie points by watching it with her.

A liberal friend of mine gave me this movie to watch yesterday. I might have known that this would be a socialist propaganda film - which it is. It's full of lies and distortions and is almost laughable . . . until you get to the part where Hillary Rottoncrotch clinton appears before your eyes along with Larry King and other leftist garbage. Be sure to go out and rent this piece of shit motion picture. It will make your day.
