Thought it would be a teeny bopper BS movie the wife dragged me to, but I was surprised. I liked it and can't wait for the 3rd. RIP Phyllis C. Hoffington. Quoted:

Hoffington. According to my daughter, they are going to two part it like the final Harry Potter. I too got drug to the first one and found out I actually liked it. |

I've not seen either movie, nor do I know what they are about. Can someone give me the run down on these movies? After arfcom wet dream revolution , ,gigantor central gov tyranny rules with an iron fist. Country cut up into 12 districts. I order to make the people remember their error(revolution ), gov takes one boy one girl from each district, makes them fight to the death. Super hot chick is bad ass , pisses off gov. |

I hate that the books are marketed as young reader books. There is some very dark stuff in there suitable for all ages, not just teens. The books needed a bit more .....adult ness to them . I realize they were written for teen girls , but dammit , I need some good reading
I watched the second with my kid last night. It was pretty good |

I've seen the first movie, and listened to all three books on audible. I thought the first was really good, the second was ok, but the third wasn't up to par.
I'll probably watch it this week. Just for the sake of seeing the book come to life. But find it hard to believe the third book is being split into two movies. |

Quoted: It's a movie, not a documentary. Quoted: Quoted: Went to see the first movie with the wife and I was ready to leave once they started killing each other. I have no desire to watch children killing children. It's a movie, not a documentary. and besides for children killing battle royal is better. |

Quoted: I thought the first book was much more violent than the movie. Other than that, I agree. Quoted: Quoted: I thought they did a good job of sticking to the book. I thought the first book was much more violent than the movie. Other than that, I agree. I agree. I was referring to the second movie vs the second book. I wonder how closely they'll follow the 3rd book. |

Quoted:
The first sucked. The second was ok, but considering nothing of value actually happens, it shouldn't exist. The whole thing was filler to set up a revolution which really didn't need setting up considering all of the districts were pretty god damn butthurt anyway. The series shouldn't exist because it's one big plagiarism of battle royale, which is infinitely better anyway, and everyone should watch that instead if they have the choice. Quoted:

This one is geared torwards a younger crowd. I don't know why people don't see this as the possible major victory for our mindset that it very well could be. This is a damn popular series with the younger teenage crowd. |

This is a damn popular series with the younger teenage crowd. I don't inherently hate the series. I don't think plagiarism is right, but still, I don't inherently hate the series. I thought the first movie was bad because it was filled with stupid things (which weren't in the book, to be fair). The second was filler, as I said. Nothing important to the overarching story really occurs that couldn't have just occurred as part of the third. I didn't really feel like the romance subplot developed at all either because katniss is way too damn fickle and clings to whichever guy she happens to be around at the time. However, nothing too dumb happened in the second movie (except washing acid wounds magically away with water), but nothing significant happens either when you think about it. |

Quoted: The movies are very well done. Never touched the books. The books add alot more to the story. The 3rd one is kinda like yeah yeah this again. I think she was just trying to wrap up all the loose ends. Since you didn't read the books you missed the really good part about the muts being the other tributes like werewolves instead of just dogs. I wish they had done that part by the book.

It did have that whole stupid teenage girl can't see the forest for the trees going on as far as relationships goes.
