Just got off the phone with my old boss(I have since moved up and to another building). But we have student sweepers that work for us in the evenings and they are basically students that goto school with in the district and then they work at night. Well he has one over at his building and the school She attends calls him to tell him that She has been suspended so she isnt able to be on school property so she cant come to work for two weeks. Well her and about 40 other students all decided they were going to protest the war with Iraq and in Afghanistan so they stand out side the school by the main road protesting. Yup every single one of them got suspended.[:D] IMHO that is the school system at its best so far....... I know it sucks for my old boss but I think the Kids got what they deserved[^] KC |

Really? I absolutely disagree with the postition of these students' protest, but I can't see the benefit in suspending them. If they staged their protest when they should have been in class, I think an unexcused absence for the day (and a corresponding reduction in their grades, if applicable) would be a more fitting punishment. Then again, maybe they will learn something from the suspension: That those in "authority" will always try to restrict your rights "for your own good". Be it first amendment rights, second amendment rights, etc. |
