Still one of my favorite games, had the DVD Silent Service II version for Windows. Many hours of missions.

I used to play that all the time. And some Apache game I can't remember the name of on my Commodore 64. There was one sweet mission where you had to fly the Apache through the Bermuda Triangle and you got attacked by all of this weird stuff.

Oh, hell yes!

I once was running a mission where I sank more than 20 ships.

Then the game crashed.

I used to play SIlent Service (not II). If I recall correctly, they simulated shitty American torpedoes circa 1942. Get a good firing solution and it would take off in a random direction or hit the hull and not explode.

They alternate between kreigsmarine and pacific theater. SH3 kriegs, SH4 pacific, SH5 Kreigs... etc.

I didn't know that 688 Attack Sub came out on non-PC platforms.  Never played that one, but I had the sequel to that one, SSN-21 Seawolf on PC.

That one was bad-ass for it's time.  There was an expansion pack that added the Med theater, the Type-XXI, and voice commands that didn't work worth a damn.

I was sick as a dog with strep and my parents went out when I was a kid. My dad brought that game home from the used game rack. It's fucking awesome. I like the Morse code at the end of the mission.

silent hunter 4 is US subs in the pacific
but going from hawaii to japan and back makes for some really long missions even with 8000x time compression
