| I was wondering how long, on the spur of the moment , could any of Y`all last in the traffic mess. I always have a blanket, mini bob, tools along with other goodies 24/7 in our vehicles. It appears that these folks were not remotely prepared for what they are dealing with. Me thinks there is a lesson here. |

A friend said that she saw people dumping cups of urine out windows as they were stopped in traffic. Her trip home was 30 minutes...took her 6 hours. |

But I also keep winter clothes so if I get stranded I can walk home and not have to sit there on the side of the road. |

Tools, boots, bag, lights, spare cold weather gear, food and water etc.. I don't believe that any lesson will be learned by the general populace. People will go back to assuming that their cars will safely transport them home in a timely manner without worry of what would happen if they had to go without transportation in no time flat. It would be too much of a bother to make contingency plans for themselves. That's what they have gub'ment for after all. The part of the narratives that I've heard personally is of the folks that stayed in their cars for hours and hours on end waiting for traffic to once again move. I would've abandoned my MV once it became apparent that roadways aren't good for anything but parking. Then again, its a habit to prepare for white outs from an earlier life lived in CNY and would've been ok to hoof it to the suburbs. Downtown ATL to my place would've taken six or seven hours but at least I'd be home by midnight. |

The last time I was stuck on the interstate for 3+ hours in a snow storm I just pissed in the median.
