I just purchased a glock 19 gen 3 and I am curious to what extractor to order to put in my spare parts bag? I hear stuff about the Glock 19 shittin' brass back into faces.

Only if you're a girly man that limp wrists it.

I hear that the internet gives you AIDS. Full blown AIDS. Shoot it first, see how you like it, then order spares.
I haven't had any issues personally with gen 3 glock 19s. I've owned 4 of them.

I have 2 of everything when it comes to parts whether it works or not. I must have a spare so if something does break there is no down time, I just install the new part and continue on.

This.  If you want to have 2 of everything, have a second pistol.  Planning to call a "timeout" so you can do gunsmithing in the middle of a fight?

If the 9mm brass is hitting you in the face you are probably limp wristing.

Here is the OEM Loaded Chamber Indicator extractor for that 9mm - Glock Extractor LCI 9mm

You'll need these also - Glock Spring Load Bearing LCI 9mm and Glock Extractor Depressor Plunger Spring and Glock Extractor Depressor Plunger 9/40/357/45GAP

That is what I do with my goto gear; two complete of everything. If something starts giving me problems, I replace it with my second and then fix the problem at my leisure.

Almost all of the 19s I have shot throw brass in my face. It has nothing to do with your wrists. It is a flaw in the gun.
Your going to have to send it to Glock so they can fix it.

Smith doesn't make anything comparable. You either have the fullsize M&P, which is too big, or the M&Pc, which is too small.

As a Glock user in USPSA and IDPA, I say you should change the extractor and associated parts at every 25,000 rounds.

BTTF is a very real GEN4 9MM Glock problem. It's not limp-wristing, it's not shooter error.

Even on Glocktalk, the specific cause has never been determined. It does seem that more recent production suffers from it less. Some folks have gotten good results by removing their extractor and polishing the flat areas of it so it moves more freely in the grove it goes in, so it easily drops out during disassembly.

If the OP owns an older (pre GEN4) GEN3 G19, there shouldn't be any extraction/ejection issues.

Oh, and OP? Stop being so damn OCD about stuff. The reason to buy a Glock is that they run and run and run and run. There are 1st Gen G17s out there with 100k+ round through them, with nothing more than new mag springs.
1/29/2014 5:33:02 PM EDT
[#30]
Shoot it. Why replace parts if you don't know if anything is wrong.

Get night sites for it. And a few extra mags. From there, your CC and formal training.

Pre 2010 or so, this was not a problem.  It seems to have popped up about the time they switched to a LCI extractor.  My Aug 2012 manufactured G19 exhibited the BTF problems.  I put the 30274 ejector in and bought an extractor from Apex and it cured the problem

Well hey thanks a lot everybody. You've been helpful. I buy spare parts regardless if there is a problem or not because I shoot enough to where parts will eventually break. I have cycled the slide with snap caps vigorously and the shells eject consistantly to the 3-4 o'clock. Haven't had time to shoot yet and it is driving me nuts.

Shoot about 500-2000 rounds. Those ejection problems seem to happen somewhere around that count. When it happens, have a good shooter shoot your gun to confirm it is ejecting brass that way. Then look for remedies.

My Glock 17 had that problem and is now under control with the new ejector and extractor.

My glock 19 ejects to the side. I did wear out an extractor, but it took many years and many cases of ammo. Still seems like a good idea to have spare parts around. Maybe this question would be better in the glock section
