I just bought a Kindle (yeah, I'm not an early adopter) and it came with a one month free trial of Amazon Prime.

Any Prime users here? What is it good for?

Having shit shipped to your door in 1-2 days?

Think wal-mart shopping (no guns tho) but you don't have to go to wal mart.

Free shipping on loads of shit.

It's great, if you didn't buy a bunch online before you will now.

If you have or can get a .edu address you can get it at a reduced price. My prime membership has paid for itself several times over, and I don't even use the streaming service.

Keep in mind if you have multiple amazon accounts in the house you can link them to your's so they'll also get the free 2 day shipping.

Worth it just for the movies/TV shows?  Probably not.

Worth it for free 2 day shipping and 3.99 1 day shipping?  Absolutely.  REALLY comes in handy around the holidays and for last minute items you need in a hurry.

2 day free shipping is awesome.

If you have an Amazon card, just do your regular shopping via amazon(consumables), rack up points and spend them on knives and shit.

Prime is awesome.

I live in Phoenix metro area, and there is a huge distribution center here.

I have literally ordered items at 10:00p and had them show up before noon the next day.

I think it paid for itself after 2 months with the free shipping here.

The free shipping is what I originally signed up for. Free second day is nice, and if you are in a hurry most items have deeply discounted overnight shipping ($5-7). It used to be $4 overnight shipping, but they squashed that.

In the past I have ordered three Diamond Back BMX bikes for my kids, overnight shipping on them for $4 each. I ordered a 17.5Kw electric furnace, overnight shipping for $4. On those items I wasn't worried about getting the items quick, I just got a kick out of seeing them delivered so quickly, knowing that if I took any of those boxes to Fedex and had it shipped next day express it would have cost hundreds.

The online video service was added long after I signed up for Prime, but it sure is a nice benefit.

I've had Prime over a year now.  My wallet has caught on fire.

Just do it.  I've had it three years now.
You get to borrow a Kindle book for free each month too.

Prime rocks, free Kindle lending library, free second day shipping ($3.95 next day), Amazon streaming TV/movies. Enable one click purchasing for a real deadly combination. My first Prime purchase was a 101lb Dewalt air compressor, the shipping paid for the Prime membership.

Got a Kindle:

Nope.  I think you are on an experimental list. Ground floor level type shit.
Take it for a spin and let us know how this "Prime" service is.

UPS guy is at my house a couple of times a week.

It's good for saving your ass when you realize that your wife/sis/dad/friend's birthday is in < 3 days and you need a highly reviewed, well packaged, easily returnable (For the most part), top notch product, sitting gift wrapped (this is extra) on their doorstep... in 2 days. For Free.

Or $80 per yr but who's counting. I love it. Saves my bacon all the time.

On a side note: my favorite feature of Amazon is the Wishlist. Mine is 10 pages and has everything from $9k NVGs (in case the wife wins the lotto) to $5 550 cord. There is a price point for everyone/occasion. All my family really appreciates the ease when gift giving is warranted.  In the last few years I have had my family and buddies create them and gift giving has never been less stressful. Everyone gets exactly what they want. Every time. Combine THAT with Prime (because I procrastinate...) and its a wrap.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 30 day free trial, but as of now I don't order enough stuff to justify the $79 a year. My yearly shipping costs are probably under $79. I'd absolutely join if I ordered more stuff.

A lot of shit I used to waste gas going to the store to get, I can usually wait a couple days for. It is more important to just remember to do it. I find that it costs me more days finding the opportunity to go the store than to just find it on Amazon and place the order.

I just got a toilet repair kit cheaper than the homey store and faster than I really needed it.

Anytime I price something I put it in my wish list.  It is 5 pages long.  Often they email you with a price drop and that seals the decision to order stuff..........and it is there in 2 days.

Prime is the shit, worth every penny. That kindle is damn near useless without it. Fork out the $79.00, they sell a lot of AR15 items and free 2 day shipping on most items is a great way to save money. Be careful though, Prime makes you an online shopping addict. There are more benefits with, Prime than any other online service Ive ever used.

Ain't this the truth.  But in all fairness...the prices are actually really good.  I'm still amazed at the kind of stuff you can find on eBay.

Office supplies, kitchen gadgets, food, clothing, auto parts, etc.

This year I did all my Christmas shopping on Amazon.  It saved me money.

BUT BEWARE...Amazon has given me an OCD complex.  I can't order anything without narrowing down the reviews to 4 stars and up, and I sit and read reviews for way too long to make sure I'm getting a good product.

FPNI.
Prices nearly as good as Wally World, with free shipping.
Some decent movies/shows, but mostly older stuff.

ETA:
Apparently it's pretty much universally loved and respected around here and you know that means that it will either be cancelled or changed drastically soon, so lap it up quick!
