Eh, the original DA/SA design can be carried cocked and locked, and the SA version is the same, minus the DA trigger pull.

I've got an SP01.

I got lucky enough to find one right before Obama's second term election.

Also, this thread reminded me to order up a set of VZ grips for it, too.

I prefer the aesthetics of the standard DA/SA and carry mine cocked and locked.

I intend to convert it to SAO in the near future with the different safety levers and trigger with internals from CGW and CZ Custom

either one is fine, I just dislike the Decocker models.  its the main reason i traded away my P-01.  I should have bought a 75 compact in the first place.

Get the CZ-75B.

The decocker has a crappier trigger pull because of the extra parts and is harder to work on/do a trigger job on.

Yup.

If I could trade my SP-01 Tactical (Decocker) for the standard model, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

7 or 8 thousand rounds rounds shot thru it. Approx.

I got a SP-01 Tactical that seemed to slip out of the factory as a DA/SA. I'm cool with that. :)

ETA: I guess it isn't a "Tactical" because "Tactical" isn't stamped on the slide, though I seem to recall a Tactical sticker on the box, I think. The night sights came with the pistol.

Looks like a plain vanilla SP-01.  Maybe I'm missing something here. SP-01 comes in two variants, decocker on the frame (named "Tactical", higher MSRP) and the SP-01 ('standard' model, no official name past SP-01).

I have the BD police model. At first I thought id hate the decocker but I've grown to prefer it to the safety.  With the standard 75b the safety gets in the way of my grip and I'll accidentally engage it. Just preference, I know the triggers are better on other models, but for my uses the bd does fine. Still the most accurate handgun I own.

The SA has the better beavertail and extended ambi safeties. It also has a different slide profile and your typical 75B holster does not usually fit the SA. You can remold Kydex holsters with a heat gun or find a dedicated holster to fit the SA model. The .40 S&W 75B also has the different slide profile as the SA.

Congrats, I love my SA.

SP-01 with safety, no decocker. They're hard to find and pricey right now, so maybe the CZ-75 for the best value at the moment.

At the height of the panic, I bought a SP-01 Shadow for like $950 and sold the two extra 19rd mags for like $90 each to make the price not hurt as bad. I wanted a SP-01, but those were only coming with one or two mags and they were still going for over $700, so I figured I might as well get the Shadow for virtually the same price. I'm not sure what the typical price is for the Shadow.

It's not quite the same gun. The SP01's handle and behave a bit differently than the standard 75.

The Single Action 75, Omega 75, Stainless Steel 75, 75 Shadowline, and the 75 Shadow's all have the similar frame to the SP01. While it is similar to the SP01, it is not exactly like a rail-less 75. Also the Standard 75 (75b) has a frame that is different than both the three 75's I listed above and the SP01.

I've owned them all and prefer the feel of the 75 Shadow. It just feels and shoots better for me.
SP01 is a neat gun, but it wasn't for me...

It's an aluminum framed compact with a decocker. I tore it apart and worked on the sear to make the trigger better. It is also my favorite .22 to shoot as well.

I was thinking about painting it in the future.

They really are great pistols.

I've seen people struggle to shoot pistols, pick up a CZ and seem to form some sort of connection fairly quickly.

I had a student brought to me that had bought a G19, she was a small framed female and the G19 was so light for her that she was anticipating the recoil very badly.

Within two mags, the heft of a full size CZ and a little instruction, she was eating the center of the target out and had developed confidence in her skills.

The same thing could have occurred with another pistol, maybe if that pistol has the same fit to the human hand that CZs seem to have. The 1911 is the only other pistol that seems to have that.

My question is regarding which CZ 75 B is better, double action or single action, I'm sure there is a lot of room for personnel preference but some advice from all you old CZ guys would be greatly appreciated. From a purely aesthetic point of view I prefer the looks of the Single action version, here are pics to show the differences between the two for all intensive porpoises, although the DA looks a lot more like the classic Hi-Power, the SA just looks way sexier!: (Edit) Posted pics of the SP-01 and P-01 for comparison as well.
