From an add for a job with a local casino:
Snoqualmie Casino exercises Snoqualmie Tribal Member/Native American preference in hiring, in compliance with the Snoqualmie Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO). Pre-employment drug testing is required for all positions and you must obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Snoqualmie Gaming Commission. So these tribal pseudo-nations within the borders of the United States can legally practice racism. Pathetic. |

I personally don't have a problem with employers hiring who they want based on whatever qualifications they want. KKK r us? Go for it. Have fun with .00001% of the population buying your products Native American lodge? Go for it. It's on par with Hibachi places only hiring asians and hispanics as chefs. |

Well, OK, then I'm going to open a Haggis Time fast food restaurant where you can buy a "personal pan haggis" and only hire people with Scotish ancestry. And I'll add Scotch to the base options in one of those 100+ flavor self-serve pop dispensers. Cherry Scotch, Vanilla Scotch, Orange Scotch, Raspberry Scotch... |

It's their land, they can do what they want inside of it and besides, we fucked them over way back when, so I see know problem with it. May be we did but that's long enough past that if you're a US citizen you get no more and no less than any other US citizen. Time to end the reservation system. Turn them into regular corporations and issue shares to living members, then let them dissolve as owners decide what to do with their shares. |

Funny story, my company once sold a ton of equipment to a casino (we do beverage, equipment, service, etc) like 50,000 worth + or - a couple K
Once payment came due we quickly found out that not only can you NOT make them pay for service/goods rendered, but the second you try and play hardball they alert the tribal police who will arrest you on site for trying to recoop payment. My company is HUGE and we simply cut off every single casino in the nation knowing we have no mechanism through which to enforce payment. Longstory short, they can do what they want on their land. . . . but being short sighted and having literally no business accumen will fuck up your game in the long run. |

In this thread we discover who has experience with Indian tribes and reservations and who does not.
That hiring practice is well established and legal. As for the sovereign nation stuff... well, as sovereign as they can be while still suckling at the .gov teat, for better or worse.

They should be the least of your concern. Now the Hawaiians and Hawaii, that's some serious racial shit they've got going on. On whole state where the natives get the jobs first, even if they're not qualified. Hell, if you look like one of them, you're already hired. If you're a punani, then it won't even matter, you're in. You end their reservations, and you would be killing what little culture they have left. I for one am not fond of the idea of eradicating our native cultures. Quoted:

How do you feel about the ending of Western Civilization? Just wondering if your level of concern is equal. But yeah the Hawaiian native thing is a corrupt criminal organization and should be RICO prosecuted. |

For anyone (black, women, indian, etc). That said, though, I really don't give a shit who they choose to hire/not hire. Govt should worry about discrimination within the govt and let citizens/businesses worry about themselves. |

| Tribal lands is a separate thing. Hence the original idea of casino development taking root in the first place. Have their own rules but believe their are still some rather abstract rules governing them (at the federal level) as to their actions as a separate nation (Tribal Sovereignty). |

Not the US. No fucks given. This and I'm staying out of this thread. This really just highlights the failing of US policy makers. Absent the reservation system forced integration would have breed them into cultural extinction in a matter of generations. Instead we end up here with jackasses on both sides screaming racism over some perceived wrongs that happened before they were born.
