lose the right to open carry? Or did they ever have that right?
Even we have the right to. For now, anyways. |
|
Never really did. I do know it used to be illegal to shoot indians from streetcars. If I remember correctly, Washington state requries a purchase application, a waiting period with the local police chief can extend if he wants, and the police keep records of firearms purchases. Further, you cannot OC long guns. Oh, no happy siwtch allowed. (not sure about supressors) You go right ahead and compare your state to Texas. |
| Once Jack in the Box started making Monster Tacos, the salsa would drip down on our pistols. To prevent this, we decided to wear cover shirts. And,since we are faster on the draw due to us just being Texans it all pans out in the end. Now you know the rest of the story..........you're welcome. |

It does make fixing outdated fuck ups more problematic and slower, but not a problem. |

Amend the state constitution by striking the phrase "but the legislature shall have the power to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime." The laws against open (and concealed) carry instantly become unconstitutional as a result. Anyways, that's what I'd propose if I were in the legislature. |

The problem is that only so many bills can reach the floor in the time frame. |

Personally, I think they should double its size and halve the number of days it meets. |

Your state is not perfict either, you have that whole weird "unloaded and uncased to transport unless you have a permit" deal going on. |

Personally, I think the laws against carrying weapons should simply be repealed. Want to carry a gun? Fine. Just do it. No need to ask for anyone's permission. |

Texas was a Democrat state before. Dems like to yank gun rights And it will be again. Err, no. Why do people too embarrased to list their state think they are experts on Texas politics?
The Texas house right now is composed of 126 republicans and 42 democrats. There are ENTIRE COUNTIES with not one single elected democrat and have been that way since the 70's. . Hell, most times the dem ticket is empty in a lot of places, They don't even RUN. The winner is decided by the republican primary. Oh, and the Governor? Landed 39% of the hispanic vote in the last election. As for the Libertarian party,

From my past reading it was mostly due to Jim Crow laws...after all you couldn't have all those freedmen wandering around with arms. Gotta pass a law that applies to all but is only enforced against specific groups. Then the 1973 law or revision. A true Texas historian will be in to clear it up. |

Quoted: I can open carry a M60 if I want but not a 1911 ![]() Technically carrying the NFA registered full auto M60 is grounds for arrest in Texas. The law is NFA registration is a defense to prosecution, not a protection from arrest. So yes you can legally carry it, but a cop can legally arrest you for doing it. |
