Good evening hive! Tomorrow I am giving a hazing class during my units safety stand down. I was given a power point printout with a list of examples but I don't know what some of this stuff is. I know we have a large presence of vets and active duty guys here. Do any of you know what these are?

Pink Bellies Maybe like the old "red belly" where one's belly is slapped until it changes colors? 
Tapings Being taped up to an object or simply "hogtied" by tape? I never have understood this hazing bullshit. 
There's been multiple college frat's shut down for pledge's getting killed due to excessive drinking linked to hazing. Florida A&M's band was also shut down for a couple of years for a death as well. I know that I have physically threatened some guys who have attempted to haze me back in my younger years. They must have believed me as they left me alone.

It builds character and its an effective way to get a group of people to bond (if you do it right and know the limits). As for the OP, just think like a Liberal. If you're a soccer mom and wouldn't want your 18 year old freshman/soldier out of basic trainee to experience it because it may make him uncomfortable, then its hazing.

I had all the "character building" I needed in the Marines, thankyouverymuch. I damn sure didn't need some mouth breather who's never been anywhere or done anything nor has been to ANY sort of instructor school attempting to teach me "character". YMMV.

I expected general asshattery with a few serious answers, so I won't be disappointed haha I did google some of them and didn't find much. I don't remember names for the hazing we got when I was a boot. It was never something that would warrant a hazing pme though.
Substandard, thanks for that info. It will be cool to throw that into the class. |

I received a nice pink belly after weeks of evasion.
After morning formation, they swooped my up and ever so gently laid me down on a cleaning table. 4 guys held my arms & legs while the members of my platoon took turns tenderly gaving my belly a hearty smack. Running starts before the slap made it more interesting. After they finished my belly was bright red & bleeding. They had a chuckle then helped me straighten out my uniform. Then is was business as usual. |
