Got in a load of mil surplus today and among the treasure was these delicious food items. I wasn't brave enough to eat any of it, I kind of lost my appetite when I opened the bulged can of "Steamed Fruit Cake" and caught a 50 year old fruit cake fart directly to the face.

Then it's not a dinner pic. It's just a picture of dinner (ETA: That you didn't even eat).

C for effort, F for execution.

Matches were included, but no smokes. Did they still issue smokes in the 1960s?

Cool, didn't know it went that long. These were just random B units, so the original packaging was missing.

The entree had a bit of rust on it, and the bottom of the can was very black.  No good.

I did have to see what goodness the Chocolate Nut Roll had to offer after all those decades.

It smelled like chemicals, and tasted like them, too.

I would eat old canned stuff.

I'm smart enough to not open bulged cans though.

Where might I find some of these?I have an uncle that would get a kick out of it,all of his army stories seem to be C ration related.

Sanna Dairies, Vitex Products, Morton House Food Products, companies long gone or bought out. There's a story behind every one of them.

I've eaten a lot of the crackers, cookies, and chese spread.  All good stuff.
