I was pointed by some article towards this supplement called L-ARGININE. Reading reviews is making me more confused as it seems to be doing exactly what reviews do... some people are saying it is a miracle supplement, others saying not doing anything at all. I am not trusting Amazon reviews as they are more centered on the brand than the supplement itself, and a closer look on those reviewers are telling me that they might be fake as they only have one or two reviews.

Since, we here in GD are experts of one sort or another, I want to ask if you guys have personally used L-ARGININE for lowering blood pressure or any other reason and if so if it worked, or if you are still using it regularly.

It's an amino acid. It's not going to hurt you, so it can't hurt to try it.

It's also not expensive. I take it, but I have no documented "results" to post lol.

Everybody is different so results can most certainly vary.

Do you feel better when you are taking it, or when you are not taking it do you feel a difference?

You most likely already make and eat plenty. Unless directly told otherwise, it's a waste of money.

I use it for a different reason.

It's a big part of my pre-workout supplementation.

So what I can tell you... is I feel better when I work out vs. when I don't

But in terms of the pump I get when taking it, the shits awesome.

Like I say, entirely different purpose, and I'm looking for entirely different results from it.

And if I didn't feel I was getting my money worth, I definitely wouldn't buy again. As it stands, I swear by the stuff.

There's other ingredients too though... but L-Argenine is the main NO component.

Nonessential amino acid. Your body manufactures it.  You can supplement, but you probably get plenty of it from your food unless you are a vegetarian that doesn't eat wheat, nuts, oatmeal, granola . . .

Don't take L-arginine if you are prone to getting cold sores.

Arginine is the building block for nitric oxide in the muscles. The body can make it from other amino acids but only in the level you demand of it.
Its added to alot of "penis enlargement" pills because of the effect it has on increasing blood flow. Generally need to take at least a 1000mg to see any benefits.
Look into the effects of nitric oxide and you will see what it can help with.
Remember just cause the body can make it doesnt always mean it does,  if your liver is busy dealing with booze and junk food all the time....get the picture.

Arginine is one of the 10 essential amino acids that your body needs to function.  However the way it works is that there must be equal amounts of all 10 for them to work properly.

Essentially, you will get the bioavailability at the level of the lowest amino acid in the mix. Stacking one more than any other is of no benefit and you might as well be pouring into the toilet.

This is the reasoning for corn growers developing high Lysine corn.  Regular corn is deficient in Lysine levels, hence the need to develop a product that will increase the bioavailability of the amino acid uptake.
