]AA or CR123 only please!
I don't stock C or D batteries. Or convince me to stock C's and D's - aren't they expensive?] I have one from walmart, and it is about as good as you think it is. Looking for better options for blackouts. Don't want to spend more than 40$ - possible? |

I have a few of these scattered around the house in cupboards so I have one handy if the power goes out. Decent light for the price.

have a Ray.O.vac LED lantern that takes three D cells that I have been using for the past three years on the same batteries. Last year we were without power for a week and it was used for two straight nights as a night light. This year we were without power for five hours one time and it was used for all five hours. Then two weeks later we were without power for eight hours and it was used for seven of them. It puts out enough light to read by in a 13X24 room...We have a generator now |

AA or CR123 only please! If you've already got AA or CR123 flashlights that you like, you might consider getting some diffuser wands for them instead.
This is the approach I prefer, because: 1. It's much cheaper than buying separate, dedicated lanterns, 2 The wands are smaller and weigh considerably less than most lanterns, and 3. LED flashlights are commonly available with the latest, most efficient LEDs - while lanterns tend to use older, nearly obsolete LEDs. For wands in various sizes, check ebay and Solar Force. |

Even better SF thread..... Chapper already posted in it though. |

I'm an idiot. I didn't notice your link. |

Have you considered solar? It is really good to mix in various types of equipment for a prepper. I have this one and it is actually pretty good. Just suggesting |
