I got my "preliminary" disability rating from the DAV today and I can do most of the math. However, The bilateral math is throwing me off. So, I got a 20% evaluation for gout and arthritis in bilateral feet, bilateral knees, bilateral hips, bilateral ankles, and bilateral toes. After some research I have found this example: Treat the two 10% bilateral as a single 21% and combine on the chart as usual. 10% + 10% = 19% + 1.9% = 20.9% rounded up to 21% for bilaterals 21% (the combined bilaterals plus 10%) So, the bilateral rating for both legs should be 40%...right? Other ratings are (non-bilateral) are: 30, 30, and a few 10%. So, if I do the math I get 70%. Is that correct? |

VA math is confusing as hell. Download a copy of CFR-38 and it has a chart that explains it very well. Or try this http://www.vvaarizona.org/combined_disability.php This. Use the chart. Start with highest number firs. Follow the chart. When done adding Round to nearest tenth for payment amount |
