Who do you know who has the luxury to go away for two weeks at a stretch?

Vacation ,what is this word?
12/21/2013 11:21:18 AM EDT
[#2]
I'm closing between Christmas and new year. Fuckem, I need a break.
12/21/2013 11:21:35 AM EDT

though I guess if I didn't have to may for room and airfare...
12/21/2013 11:21:40 AM EDT
[#4]
I could if I wanted to but I prefer to grab an afternoon here, a day there whenever the fancy strikes me.

How well did you want it to go?

I'm taking a week off in Jan to go to Ireland.  Then a week off in June and maybe one in Sept too.

Seeing as how there is an entire industry sector known as "tourism" and entire economies based on it, I think it's safe to say more than a small few engage in this activity known as "vacation."

I just recently came back from a 2 week vacation in Mexico. And, I didn't get shot at or beheaded.
It's the only place I can go for 2 weeks and afford it.
Once you go away for 2 weeks you'll never want to do 1 week again.
12/21/2013 11:39:27 AM EDT
[#14]
Not 2 weeks, but 8 days anyway...

12/21/2013 11:51:08 AM EDT
[#15]
We do.  Actually we didn't have a family vacation last year because my wife and daughter went to Costa Rica with her mom, but we usually do.  We've been to the Grand Canyon/Southwest region three times, the Pacific Northwest once, Yellowstone/Grand Teton three times, Glacier once, Alaska once and Mammoth Cave/the Smokies once.  Don't know yet where we're going this coming summer...

depends on someones occupation.
some jobs require you to be available within 24-48 hours. some you can close the factory, and go to europe for 3 weeks if you like.

Australians, Brits, the Irish......................

Every time the wife and I take a trip, the rest of the civilized, (with the exception of the Irish) world are "on Holiday" for a month.

We don`t count.

5-8 weeks away at a time is routine for us.

In fact I'm off until January 6th and will probably just day trip here and there.

I get something like 7 weeks paid time off a year, plus I work a schedule where every 4th week, I am off for 7 straight days...don't generally go on vacations tho, with 3 small kids they get expensive fast

[#26]
I work at Wal-Mart and even I get 4 weeks of paid vacation a year. Sounds like you need a new job.
12/21/2013 12:16:21 PM EDT

fuck me  i get one to 12 weeks +
when i get laid off

Hahahaha i own a business, theres no such thing as vacations or sick days.

Even if there was, id be bored stupid after day 2.  Drives my wife nuts.

[#29]
I could if I wanted to.  The issue is the kids,  don't want them out of school for two weeks, and during the summer I live where everyone goes to vacation, so I tend to stay home.
12/21/2013 12:21:57 PM EDT
[#30]
Use or lose time. I took off Friday and all of next week. Still have 12 hours to burn before January 11th.
12/21/2013 12:23:01 PM EDT
[#31]
I get 6 weeks paid each year. I spend about 10 days a year in Alaska fishing. And the wife and I like to hit Vegas once a year for 4 days or so. The rest is taken with various holidays for 3-5 weekends. Whatever I don't use I get get paid for at the end of the year.

I took October off to deer & turkey hunt

I think I'm the only Gringo for 30 square miles.

I could, but I don't.  I would rather have the money (we get compensated for unspent leave).

3 weeks vacation and 5 personal days per year. Use it or lose it. No pay out.
One big trip 10 - 14 days, usually Spring Break or June. The week personal and a week vacation taken here and there, a day or two at a time, to make long weekends for trips to family.

Next years trip is to Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. Son stationed at Ft. Polk.

South America, Alaska, China all two week spans in the last 5 years.  Not my preferred length for vacation.

I've been off since the middle of November. I ain't goin back until the middle of January at the earliest. Does that count?

It ain't paid, per se; I don't get a paycheck while I'm off, but I made enough through the year that my bank account won't be much worse for the wear. But GD thinks 70 hour weeks are for suckers.

I was in Europe (Poland, Spain, Italy, France) for a month earlier this year.

I take a few months a year.

I'm on vacation from yesterday till Jan 6.
12/21/2013 6:17:02 PM EDT

I take 2 weeks off in a row every year.  Also take another week for fishing or more traveling.  It's not worth flying across the country to only have 5-6 days there.

Do you even relax bro?

Vacations aren't worth what is paid for them.

I do, me. About 12 times a year.

I have not had a real vacation for over twenty years.I get a day off a few times a year. I work so others can have the free stuff.

I'm self employed.
