A friend gave me a chunk of crushed comb mixed with honey, bee parts, who knows what so that I could extract beeswax out of it.
I've been double-boiling it for a bit and have about a soap-bar sized chunk out of about a pound of mixed comb leftovers. I'd estimate that I have 5 ounces of wax out of the pound of mix. The remnants look like dark molasses. I'm dipping off the clear wax and so far so good. But neither he nor I have done this and have no idea if I'm doing it right. Don't want to waste precious beeswax. What should I expect for wax yield? |
