So I swapped an old rifle of mine this weekend for a very slightly used 70 series Colt Combat Commander. I won't get to fire it until tomorrow, but I think I may never look at another polymer frame pistol again. I have a USP compact, and I like it fine, but this new Colt just FEELS great. I think I will likely be getting more 1911s in the future, just based on the way this one feels in my hand. The Colt has a very crisp trigger, and the slide works very smoothly, and it just plain feels solid.

I know I made out on the trade, regarless of how the pistol shoots.

Who out there has the Combat Commander, and what are your thoughts and experiences with it?

They are great guns. The only problem is the backstrap. I have large hands and it tends to cut into my hand after 10 or 15 mags. but I think that it is just me. anyways, congrats on the new gun.
