I would like some input on a spotting scope. I hunt deer, antelope and elk in all kinds of terrain from can't see 50 feet to miles of open country. Most of my hunting is spot and stock either from a ATV or truck or I hike up high and glass with binos. My use of the scope would mainly consist of finding animals with the binos then using the scope for a better look.I don't know how much I would actually glass with it and I'm not a trophy hunter measuring racks at 2 miles.

When I had a spotting scope I did not use it very often, but it was handy when I needed it, especially for antelope. I had a cheap spotting scope that cost about $250 and it wasn't worth
the powder to blow it to hell. I'm a little worried about going cheap like I did last time and I think I would use it more if I had a good one.

I have narrowed it down to two choices,
maybe three.

The Vortex Razor 16-48x65    http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-razor-hd-16-48x65-angled-spotting-scope

The Vortex Razor 11-33x50    http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-razor-hd-11-33x50-straight-spotting-scope

Or the Vortex Viper HD 15-45x65  http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-viper-hd-15-45x65-angled-spotting-scope

I looked at all three at the store and really like both Razors, the Viper HD was ok but not super.

I feel like I might use the compact one more due to it's size and weight but the 65mm definitely had the advantage in the brightness and clarity.

It's not like I would be using this scope everyday so I'm not sure the extra money is worth it to get the Razor over the Viper for nearly double the price.

While I am beating a dead horse, what about straight vs angled eye piece. The last one I had was straight and prone and up hill were a pain in the neck, but target acquisition, quick looks and window mounts were better. The angled seems to be more comfortable for long glassing sessions and you can rotate it, but it is still difficult to me to find what you want to see.
