| What's to stop China from selling ammo to another country and then they send it over to us repackaged? |

Isn't one of Botach's relatives doing time for that? An "acquaintance" thought he'd make a killing dehydrating raisins and shipping them to Israel as cheap "cattle feed". Once in Israel, he'd re-hydrate them and sell them as pricey raisins. Got caught. Got arrested. Got extradited to Israel. Got tried. Got convicted. Got incarcerated for a time. (2 years) Got divorced. Got released. Got deported. |
| IIRC the rule is that it has to sit in the secondary country for a certain number of years before it can be considered that the secondary country is the country of origin for export purposes. I asked this same question a long time ago and that's what I was told. So if you have the cash and connections to buy a shitload of chicom ammo then store it in a different country for the required number of years before exporting it, then by all means go for it. |

"Cheap ammo" ceases to be cheap ammo after you export it to the temp country, pay to store it in a warehouse for 5 years, then finally export it again. Then you may run into legal issues if it becomes obvious you are specifically trying to dodge import restrictions. |

What's illegal about dodging import restrictions in a manner consistent with the written law? Or is the 5 years thing an actual law? Things used to get struck down as "unconstitutionally vague." You know, before the USA was a banana Republic. |

You know, before the USA was a banana Republic. Federal laws seem to be guidelines anymore. I wouldn't touch it myself, but if someone else wants to.. I hope the cheap ammo works out haha Most of the 5 year rule I see with gun stuff is related to Russian AK kits. They can't be imported directly from Russia. The ones that get imported were given to the Bulgarians decades ago, and an importer just happened to find them and was able to buy them and cut them up. Even then, some importers advertised them as Bulgarian after they arrived in the states to avoid any drama with them being Russian parts. I could see the ATF getting retarded if the importer was going out of their way to get ammo from China to the US. But either way, I think the whole idea isn't exactly cost effective. |

There's a moisture percentage point or so between dried and dehydrated. Raisins are sun dried..literally picked and plopped on a tarp between rows to dry to ambient...or used to be. Dehydrated is lower than ambient. You and I probably can't tell the difference, but when there's $$$ involved and a Marketing order from a collectivist president, trivial shit becomes mountainous. It keeps folks from dehydrating, shipping, and the end user from rehydrating slightly to get around the BS. We have USDA standards that define what a "Raisin" is and isn't, and what can be sold as a "Raisin" without having to be subject to the controls of the marketing order. Cherrys, apples, and everything else that grows and subject to a marketing order is the same. I see you are finding the matter frustratingly ridiculous. You're doing it right. |

It ain't just Raisins either. I worked for an agricultural company here and don't remember too many problems from the state, minus the usual business-in-California bullshit of course. Granted, I was pretty low on the totem pole. The feds were a whole 'nother story. That also appears to be where all the flak is coming from that poor dude in the story is catching. |
|
Yeah, it's the Feds enforcing the mandates of the marketing orders.
The thing is, many marketing orders originate and are controlled by the collectivists and mega growers in your state, despite production bieng greater in other states and regions. It's a bitch, but all it takes is one small group of collectivists petitioning, and bam..there's a marketing order in effect and a board put together that is entirely comprised of mega farm interests. It's HUGE $$$ for the import/export giants that are literally killing the market for family farm growers elsewhere. Each challenge to the marketing orders legality, results in strong arm ugliness from the USDA, so it is not wise to question or challenge the monster directly. You should see the revolting and unholy clusterfuck that is the Cherry producers board.
