The AR15 was designed originally with a complete chrome BCG, minus the cam pin.
The Army fixed it, citing costs. Then came the Model 602. Then the Army demanded a Forward Assist, which Gene Stoner didn't understand. "Why would you want to force a cartridge into battery if it doesn't go in normally?" The Air Force demanded no Forward Assist. |

I wonder if Ranier staking them voids the warranty. I remember reading about Youngs stating that their key fasteners don't need to be staked due to proper torque, and a returned damaged BCG would not be replaced if fasteners were staked. |
