I've seen a few around. Good looking car. The ass end takes some getting used to, but it's not so bad on a black or grey car.

Quoted: Not a fan of the 'vettes because i'm not 60 and balding ![]() ![]() 60 and balding is a stereotype for the Vette that is quickly going away. There are plenty of younger drivers now. The vette, especially used ones from 97 and onward, are the best bang for your buck performance vehicle around. For less than a new Honda Civic you can have a 350 hp land missile that has a racing pedigree (look up the C5R and C6R racecars and their records at Le Mans) and can still return 30+ mpg. Some parts are a bit pricey, but a lot of them are shared with other GM products (the LS series engine is in all of the modern GM trucks as well as performance vehicles) so maintenance costs are minimal compared to the Corvette's competitors. I picked up a 2002 Z51 6-speed for less than 15k last spring and it has been an excellent vehicle so far. aside from basic maintenance and a new set of tires
it haven't had to spend any money on it aside from upgrades that i'm choosing to do (cold air intake, C6 shifter, etc). I bought the car out in Vegas and drove back to the east coast over the course of 2.5 days. on the less populated sections (no traffic) i managed 32 mpg while cruising through the deserts at 80+ mph with the AC cranked the whole time. |

Another guy here who.hates rear end.
Black plastic is causing exhaust to look completely retarded. Tail lights are indeed stupid, might as well do something complety different if getting away from dual squares or dual rounds. Maybe two parallel bars. In all black I have fewer issues with the rear. |

But the ass end looks awful. I want to see Jeremy Clarkson test drive it. Top Gear (UK's) website does say good things about the car. Dupe by about a thousand, btw. yeah the rear is bad. what dupe? I thought the rear was hideous until I saw one in person. I don't hate it now but I'm still not in love with it. |

oh hell no I would let those guys touch my dog! |
|
was considering buying one.
it looks ok. i dont mind the rear end. but im not into nostalgia or 'vettes always have round taillights'. they are churning them out like crazy in bolling green. and there have been lots of complaints about quality control. especially the electronics and paint. the scariest stuff though is about the rear end in the z51. its supposed to be an automated positraction unit that applies clutch packs according to sensed slippage. which is a good idea but the first implementation has had a lot of problems with some rear ends being shipped without fluid and burning up and some rear ends having issues with the hydraulic fluid that applies the clutch packs. there have been problems with the fuel sending unit in some cars. so they drop the tank (i think) but to do so they have to remove the torque tube. if not put back in correctly it will destroy the motor. one guy at least has had this happen. probably because the dealer was not up to speed on the new car. i still am interested in the car but will wait at least until the 2015 model year. you can get a stripped vette now for around 50k which is a bargain for a car with 460hp. |

It's growing on me. I do think the black area of the rear end shouldn't come up as high.. it looks pretty ridiculous.
Not surprised the car has some issues.. it's common when there is a brand new model year. Plus this one seems to be much more complex than any previous Vette design. |
