I'm look for a decent "ranger" game. Exploration of a wilderness with dangerous monsters and animals. I have already played fallout and skyrim. So something in those styles I haven't seen. |

The term you're looking for is "sandbox RPG."
Dead Island (zombie Skyrim, but not as well executed) Borderlands 1 & 2 (looter-shooter) That sort of thing. If you're open to less RPG and more sandbox, check out Assassin's Creed, GTA, Red Dead Redemption, etc. If you're stuck on fighting animals in the woods, there's not a whole lot going on with that. |

I've got Stalker: Call of Pripyat sitting on my desk. I haven't played any on the Stalker games yet, but I think they have a fair bit of exploration and random encounters. I could be wrong though.
If you want some beautiful locations to explore and animals to hunt, Far Cry 3 was pretty fucking great. Cool guns, great environments, good dialogue, great voice acting and animation, pretty graphics, awesome gunplay. |
