I searched, sorry if dupe.
YouTube just changed the comments section. You now have to sign in to "Google+" to comment. Your comments are shared there, and they want to tie in all accounts together with your real name. You also don't get to see all the comments, only those from your Google+ friend circle or some crap. It's supposedly to make YouTube "less toxic".
Until you agree, you are locked out from commenting.

Maybe this will help stop such idiotic comments on youtube.  Youtube comments are pretty much the most worthless thing ever.  Doesn't matter the video, rest assured that there is some retarded post.

While I hate Google+ and Google's whole big brother thing they got going, any effort to add accountability to that sewer is worth a try.

Don't hold your breath.  Maybe a competitor in the "record your own video to show your friends" field, but YouTube is so much more than that.
11/6/2013 6:10:18 PM EDT
[#7]
They aren't blocking comments, they are just sorting them.

"You’ll see comments at the top of the list from people in your Google+ Circles, from creators, and from popular personalities. Comments with many likes and replies will rank highly as well. Choose Newest First to see the most recent comments instead. Replies are threaded (like Gmail) so you can easily follow conversations."

That's a good thing. You can also post your comment publicly, or only for friends, and you can post it to G+ or just YT.

They are blocking. If I try to comment, a box pops up saying that I have to create a Google+ account, and either change my YouTube user name to my real name, or use my YouTube name on all my other Google related accounts. I also have to agree to have my comments posted on Google+, which I'm guessing is their attempt at a social media site.

EDIT - Proofreading.

The problem is they are going to make you-whether you like it or not-link your accounts together.

I make videos so I want to be able to readily see comments, and now Google is screwing that all up.

Not as bad as Youtube. Though, admittedly, I stick in the science sections of Yahoo answers. The retardation there is mild. Youtube is extreme.

I agree 100%. If the porn industry can so easily make good tube channels, so can someone with a cleaned up youtube type site. Google is getting greedy with the spam advertisement and individual targeting to the point it will kill them. Might take years but it will happen in an industry that changes essentially overnight.

The best part of Yahoo answers is the relationship section.  Makes GD look like Wall Street Journal.

Never have I felt the need to comment to the internet in general about a YouTube video.  I suppose now I will never know the joy.  My loss, I guess.

I never comment on YouTube videos.

I was a Google+ member briefly. But when they wanted to link your Picasa pictures to your G+ account, I said nope. My pics stay private unless I choose to share them.

Youtube keeps getting shittier and Google doesn't care because what other video sharing sites are there...
11/6/2013 8:05:14 PM EDT

A couple of positive changes:

  • Add URLs. You can add a URL to your comment. It will show as a link. YouTube video URLs will show in the comment as a link using the title of the video.

  • Reply to comments. Click Reply beneath a comment to respond to that comment. All replies to a comment are threaded beneath the original comment. They will be visible to the same people and in the same places as the original comment.

  • Use rich text. You can add style to your comment with special tags: *bold* ? bold; _italics_ ? italics; -strikethrough- ? strikethrough

  • Comment moderation. You can report any comment for spam or abuse. If you're a creator, you can also usecomment moderation tools for comments on your videos or your channels.

Add URLs is a great feature, but the last one is most important to me.  I don't have to take extra steps just to moderate or report the death threats I get from anti-hunters.

The answer is multiple Gmail accounts.

One tied to anything an employer might see, such as Social Networking sites and YouTube. Don't subscribe to any type of controversial YouTube channels, post stupid comments, and don't be an idiot on Facebook. I even separate my Chrome Favorites by logins. I only save work related and generic websites to Chrome while I'm logged in with this account.

The other tied to an anonymous GMail account so you'll be free to subscribe to all the gun, political, and any other type of channel that might make a potential libtard employer piss their pants. I save all my personal Favorites and anything some thin-skinned pansy might find offensive with Chrome logged into this second account.

Am I 100% safe? No. But a potential employer checking on my public "presence" will have to work real hard to try to tie my different accounts together.

Actually, I have 12 email accounts (not including my work email address). I use them for different types of mail (bills and utilities, junk email, family email, online shopping accounts, etc). And I change them often, I've had about three dozen email addresses over the last ten years and owned multiple domains. Whenever I find two accounts are linked somehow (usually my own fault) I get rid of one.

I need to clean that shit up, too. Last time I checked I had over 2,000 unread emails in all those accounts. I hate email. Somebody pointed out Spaminator not too long ago, I already used it a couple of times.
