By law, can the county fingerprint you for background check on CCW applications? Does Prince William County? |

"The court shall charge a fee of $10.00 for the processing of an application or issuing of a permit. Local law enforcement agencies may charge a fee not to exceed $35.00 to cover the cost of conducting an investigation pursuant to this Code section. The State Police may charge a fee not to exceed $5.00 to cover the cost associated with processing the application. The total amount of the charges may not exceed $50.00, and payment may be made by any method accepted by the court." I remember 5 years ago when I got my permit, they didn't require fingerprinting. |

If you download the form, just look at item # 20. Fingerprinting is only required if your local jurisdiction requires it. Check with your Court Clerk's office. They can tell you if you need fingerprints or not. Some places do, and some places don't. It all depends on the jusrisdiction. Here in Virginia Beach, fingerprinting is not required. Ross |
