V1 or V5? Why?

I hope someone comes along and explains the difference.  I'm too stupid to figure it out myself.

DDV1 is 5.56 carbine length gas system FSP with FSP rail
DDV5 carbine gas system is .300 blk with solid rail and low pro gas block. They might also have this in a 5.56 but im not sure.
DDV5 middy is a 5.56 with solid rail and low pro gas block.

I'm partial to carbine gas system and 5.56 so I'd vote for the DDV1. My buddy has one. I shoot a factory DDMK18 and love it.

Also, IBTP.

ETA: all that info is off of their website.

Too late to suggest to maybe post questions in the proper forum to get serious answers?

This, my ideal rifle. Now I just need to come up with the cash for one.

I have a DDM4V5. I prefer it over the V1 for the mid length gas system and lack of fixed front sight post. I use a 1-4x with MBUS and don't do the co witness thing, so the lack of fsp gives me a clear sight picture on 1x which I prefer.

It has been great as an all around rifle for 3gun, hogs etc. I shoot suppressed 100% of the time and it has been very reliable, all I have done is swapped out the buffer for a heavier one for the can and dropped in an SSA E trigger. Customer service is excellent btw.

It's basically a matter of choosing between a carbine-length gas system & a midlength (respectively).  You can't go wrong with either from DD.
If you haven't made up your mind on barrel length, though, you should give some thought to a 14.5" lightweight midlength with a pinned on 1.5" flash hider.  I have 2 from DD with their 12" handguard & love them.  You can build your own at DD's website.
