Brothers and sisters, I've been looking for a job for some time now and have been unsuccessful. I have applied to over 150 positions and received little correspondence. I have over ten years active duty Navy experience, surface nuclear Electrician's Mate. Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Old Dominion University as well as flight experience. I have civilian experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment maintenance management, but I'm not looking to get back into that industry. I'm located in Texas but looking to relocate to Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, or South Carolina.
There's never been anything I haven't been able to learn, if anyone out there has any information that may be of help, it's always greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Have you tried hitting up all the contacts you've built up over all that experience? If your resume is really as shiny as you say it is, surely one of your buddies would hire you on. A lot of them are still in the navy or have moved to the west coast. I have ailing family on the east coast so that's where I'm looking to go. |

You willing to move? Boeing is staffing up big time in South Carolina. Come up here and work flight test maybe. Could always work for one of our suppliers, too. Honeywell, Hamilton Sundstrand, Parker, Crane etc. Thanks!!! Going to hit that one hard then. |

Ever thought about RF communications? Check out some Motorola MSS shops (kind of franchises, industry partners, contractors, etc). Some of the ones I've been around hire all kinds of backgrounds for different roles. They have installers, technicians, tower climbers, project managers, engineers, salespeople, etc. There are hundreds of companies all around the country, many with multiple shops in just about every decent sized metro area. I was an ET though so I did have a stronger RF background but I have seen them train some people that were pretty green. Check out this link, just search by zip code and there will be links to the companies websites. Almost every one of them will have a careers or employment section with openings advertised, it can be a high turnover business, radio people tend to be kind of "special" : |

When was the last time you had someone look over your resume? I had a client that lost his job. Said he applied for 200 plus jobs without a call. I reviewed his resume and edited with the help of a friend in HR. Had a new job about 4 weeks later. I've had it professionally edited about 3 weeks ago. |

Uranium enrichment facility outside of Hobbs NM. Hiring constantly. High pay for anyone, more for prior service, even more for anyone with experience dealing with anything nuclear. Not sure if I know anyone in the hiring chain, but know several folks who work there with no degree and make bank. Sure your prior experiences would get you in good. |
