Hi All:
Quick story: I just got out of my eye doctor's office pursuant to my annual physical. Dilated the eyes, etc. My prescription does not appear to have changed. Okay, cool. I wear bi-focal glasses, and they seem to generally be okay except for real close in work (like I am working on a pistol on the bench, soldering some wires, etc.) Many times I take my glasses off to see my Droid Phone clearer. No icky issues came up after dilation. A small cataract in my right eye is still there from last year, hasn't moved/grown, or changed. So the Dr. and I began a dialogue on shooting glasses. He is not a shooter (but he seems positive about it anyway); after I explained sight alignment to him he gets what we are trying to do with sights.. My problem is: that on occasion when I am focused on my front sight, it "blurs away". I take the pistol off target, blink furiously and generally my ability to see the front sight restores. He is suggesting against removing the cataract for now. He is against Lasik or RK. He thinks I ought to try a bifocal with a true line in it as opposed to my line-less ones. He wrote me a couple of prescriptions, one with a magnified diopter one time (1X) stronger than my current script. HE also moved the line up higher, giving me a larger window to see the sites through, and if I need to look down range, tip my head down and I can see farther away. Anyone here on the site have similar sight issues that effected their shooting? Do you think the Doctor. is on target with his analysis? Is there any other threads either here or elsewhere that speak to vision issues and seeing the sites? Appreciate the response. Regards, Wally |
