Not really technical, so I stuck it here...

Loaded the last of my 2400 tonight, a very old can that a very old man gave me too long ago.

I never used a lot, just loaded for my .41 Mag, the occasional batch lead plinkers and some hunting/defense loads.

Lately my neighbor has been doing a lot of machining for me, so I loaded up all the .45 LC I could scrounge up for him.

And now it's all gone. I see it starting to show up here and there, but none locally, and I've been holding off buying necause I'm trying to find all the powders I need in one place so I can just pay one hazmat fee.

Might have to suck it up soon though.

Because 2400 is the simple answer. Reloading can be a time consuming pain, I load for precision Rifle and hunting, and IO spend a lot of time trimming and prepping brass, case forming and annealing, hand weighing charges, and working on load development.

But with my old S&W .41 mag, it's simplicity in itself.

Size and deprime the cases, lubeless in the carbide die, run 'em thru the belling die for the tiniest of mouth belling, hand prime with the lee, line them up and scoop the 2400 with a Lee scoop. It measures out 16 grains of powder, which is medium hot for the 215 grain cast plinking load, on the low side for the 210 jacketed hunting bullet, which is fine by me.

And my current cast bullet, from Space Coast Bullets, has an almost identical profile to the Nosler 210 Jacketed, so I don't even have to adjust the seating die. It's beautiful. Same deal, every time, gives me a great, superbly accurate plinking load, and a fine , manageable hunting load.

and on top of that, the same scoop with the same powder turns out to be just the ticket for the cast loads for the neighbors .45 LC!

So, any body else have a super simple reload that is an old standby?

Sounds like a good loading...never had one I could interchange with another caliber though
but for my .41 my light load was 7.5 grns WW 231 CCI 300 primer and 210 LSWC worked similar to a .45 Long Colt very accurate (I used to shoot silhouette with it) heavier loads for me were 19.5 H110 w CC350 (that was my "Lee powder scoop load" before I got a scale and measures and the rest of it) or 23.8 H110 CCI 350 and 210 Hornady JHP those were my "Ram loads" for steel silhouette note the 23.8 is a beyond max compressed load but always worked fine in my S&W 57 and Blackhawk .41 revolvers with no overpressure signs in MY guns. I love .41 mag one of the best all around calibers but you have to hand load for it.

In .45 acp I'd use 5.5 grns WW231 and a 200 grn lswc that could shoot the circle out of the bull all day at the indoor range..at 20 yards or so.

WW231 is smoky though that along with the bullet lube almost seems like shooting black powder..whereas H110 in my .41 is like a flamethrower/cannon going off
simultaneously and used to scare the crap out of folks when I shot it indoors.

Found a you tube vid of someone (not me) shooting H110 loaded revolvers off indoors..fun times!

OP, that's a great picture.     No advice regarding the powder though.

Also same powder for .380, 9mm and 10mm.

There's an understatement.
Geez, I thought I was old school using the mid 80's Hercules popup top cans that my dad gave me from when I first started reloading with him.
How old is that can?

Just got a couple pounds of 2400 the first of the month from Powder Valley.

Was available for a short time.

I use it for cast bullet loads in 7.62x39.

A 250gr lead 45 Colt SWC?  16gr of 2400 seems a little hot (Alliant calls for 15.4gr max).

I too appreciative a "simple" load. Sometimes it's just fun to load some boolits and go shooting.

OP check your PMs

I use buckets of Unique. I use it for all my pistol/shot plinking loads. Other than that the best thing I ever bought was a progressive press, second best was a bullet feeder, third best was a second progressive press.

I've got a brand new can of 2400 in the closet, specifically to load up some 170gr 357 magnums.

My simplicity load is the .38 spl.  midrange wadcutter.  It matters not which 148 grain WC I decide to use whether cast plain base, swaged hollow base, or double ended.  It is 2.7 grains of Bullseye with any standard small pistol primer.  The charge is thrown by an RCBS little dandy powder measure.  All primed cases are mouth up on the loading block and each case is charged in turn.  I then visually check to make sure there a single powder throw in each case before starting a bullet by hand.

Plenty of old powder kicking around, as long as it is stored under decent conditions it will last a very long time!  I have some cans of similar vintage, I bought all of these new a very long time ago.

Made a scoop from a 9mm case.  Throws 7 grns of Unique, which I use in my 41 mag, 44 Spl, and 45 Colt for plinking loads.  Accurate enough in all three.  Unique is cleaner than it used to be, but still is dirty compared to other powders, but it is available, cheap, and the fact I can use the same simple scoop in all three rounds makes it easy and fun to reload

OP, if you don't mind my asking, what grips are those on your revolver?

I once knew someone who had a similar, very similar set of grips on a .45 Blackhawk, and I'd like to know what they were, for nostalgia's sake.

I will agree with Titegroup.  Meters well and I saw it on the shelf in Cody the other day.  I use it for .45 ACP and 9mm.

3.1 grains of Clays under any 158 gr. bullet for .38 Special. Feels real nice out of my Model 10.

12.5 grains of 2400 under a 158-160 gr. cast bullet for .357 Magnum.

Where'd I say a 250 grain cast?

I use Red Dot for all my pistol loads, WC846 for rifles unless I shoot lead in them then I use Red Dot again. Use 44g of WC846 for 8mm, 30-06, .308, 7,62x54, .303, 7.7. Have two powder dispensers - one for pistol, other for rifle.

That might have been why there was a question mark at the end of the sentence.

Those were traded to my by my long dead gun guru when he did the trigger job for me, He talked me into them, I think because he wanted to get the gun they were on back to stock trim for trade or sale.

I want to say they're Hogue, when I get time I'll pull them off and look. I can picture a rubber stamp saying Hogue, but these days that might've been 3 guns ago.....
