[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Baseball caps? (Page 1 of 2)

I usually wear a ball cap, because I have shitty hair. The problem is that I have a hard time finding cool hats locally. I'm not into sports, so team logos, which are everywhere, are not my style. The problem I have is that when I order online, I often get those hats that have no structure to the top. They are just thin cotton and look retarded when I put them on my head. Is there some sort of description for these hats, vs the good ones that are stiff and better quality? It would be nice to know exactly what I'm ordering, rather than rolling the dice as I have been.

I prefer a floppy, unformed hat myself. I hate the stiff "sport" style.

Ever since the trucker hat trend came out years ago I have a hard time finding a decent hat.

I can't stand the big poofed up fronts. =/

...Except that Larue hats are the very type of hat the OP described, namely the pure cotton construction with lack of form.

I'm not a sports guy either, so it's kind of hard to find hats that don't have sports logos or something else I don't like.  I've found that some of the more subdued and "plain" looking Under Armour hats work well for me.

Never mind - found it. It's called the Under Armour Friend or Foe.

That is the style I like, but I dont care for stretch fit, or underarmour. I do like trucker hats, but most seem to have some cheesy picture on them.

My local Academy Sports sells them or you could order online.  I already did it for you, but just Google "Under Armour Friend or Foe hat".

I just can't do the flat brim. My son wears those and they sit over the tops of his ears. Seems to be the cool thing to do.

In the business I believe they call them structured and unstructured. So look for structured hats.

Curve the bill a bit, it'll stay forever. It's the standard ball cap used throughout baseball.
Only jerkoffs wear flat brims. (Your son excluded, obviously)

I have the same issue, OP.  I have a fairly small noggin, so the square tall hats look stupid on me... the smaller styles don't have much structure and look floppy.

I generally shop lids.com for any blank hats I want.  Some good brands  for descent structure and not straight-brimmed super-tall douche hats are:
Top of the World (Home Run or Letterman styles)
Zephyr (Zfit)
New Era (3930 ONLY - everything else they have is now stupid tall)

Those are the only brands I am realyl familiar with, but they have a ton of other generic brands on the site in many different colors - even some camo.

http://www.lids.com/Blanks

They are pretty good at handling returns if you don't like it, just be sure not to bend the brim, give it any signs that it has been worn, etc.

Or go to your local Lids, if you continue to the back of the store they have some non sport's team hats as well. Flat brim is just unformed, I enjoy enraging the sales tools by curving the brims before trying on.

And of course just about every outdoors or sporting goods store also has a selection of hats.

God damn you! I have always had baby fine hair that is straight. You can see my scalp through it and it lays completely flat on my scalp. I would rather have a jewfro, than this shit.

The hat only starts white in the template...

And it's the same hat as my Tiger's Field hat, but the OP didn't want one with a sports logo.

I hate flat bill hats they are terrible. Adidas, nike make some cool hats or even walmart has generic browning camo hats.

I bought a Zeiss sport optics hat from a place online last year... On sale for $3... Man for a $3 ballcap, the thing is QUALITY!!! Perfect fit, and curve in the bill right out the box.

Plus people in the know, will instantly recognize you as a man of sophisticated taste in not only rifle optics, but also scientific and medical optical instruments... Until they read "Sport Optics" on the back that is! lol

It quickly became my new favorite hat... They jacked the price back up though, now its $9.95

I like slouched caps, hate those high rise fronts.

I have to try a hat on before I buy it.  Which is why I have only bought 2 hats in the last 4 years.  A Throwback Houston Oilers hat and a Duck Commander hat, both of which I got my hands on before buying.

I'm picky about my hats and 99% of hats out right now suck.  I hate this flat brim bullshit on almost all hats, which I think looks really retarded.  So I go with old faithful, my Oilers hat most of the time and call it good.
