My 99 Grand Cherokee is giving me fits today! The blinker (passenger front... both of them) gave out the other day. Fast flasher noise, no dash indicator lamp is not lighting either. The rear one works. Obviously I changed the bulbs, no joy. Broke out the multimeter. No voltage to the socket. I chased the wires down to the firewall, and have continuity through all three. Yep three wires. The socket says "major" which is a green wire, Minor which is a black/pink wire that seems to go to a body ground, and a black one which is labeled as ground. The green one goes to the firewall and across the engine compartment where it runs into the cab. Could the flasher device thing be faulty? It is buried in the fuseblock somewhere, so it isn't accessible without tearing the whole damn thing out and apart. Oh... to clarify: this is a two filament bulb. being a combo fog, flasher. One of the side marker lights also doubles as a flasher but it only has two wires, black/pink and green. It wont flash either, but comes on as a side marker.

| I beieve the flasher circut is in the base of the flasher lever. My lever snapped off in my 99 JGC and I had to replace it. There are two screws in the bottom of the stearing column and it jsut separates and comes off. You can get to the lever assembly after that real easy. |

Quoted: Your flasher relay crapped out, located somewhere up under the steering column. no big deal to change. On jeeps there are usually 2 relays, 1 for the hazards & one for the turn signals, they both should be interchangeable. Good luck. I have never had a flasher break, so I am really clueless about their operation. I hope that it is this easy!
