It's official: NASA says Voyager 1 has left the Solar System, going farther than any human object
WASHINGTON - First they thought it had. Then they weren't sure. Today, scientists agreed that NASA's famous Voyager 1 spacecraft has, indeed, left the Solar System, marking the farthest reach of human beings into the universe. Scientists told reporters at NASA Headquarters today that they even know when Voyager 1 left what is called the heliosphere - the bubble of hot, charged particles surrounding the Solar System. It was on or about Aug. 25, 2012.

While interesting and all, I'd only get excited if it suddenly started getting closer, or someone started playing that record back at us. This is the first time anything has exited the solar system. They's so much cool science going on right now with these historic probes, I could drown a toddler in it... or something!

Remember when America used to DO stuff? We explored, we discovered. We were once a proud and important nation. |
