I still don't understand why they haven't made another one. Master and Commander drew from 5 or 6 different Aubrey-Maturin books, but there are 20 of them - plenty of material, a large portion of which happens on land (cheaper production costs.) Also, Master and Commander didn't touch on Maturin's career as an intelligence agent, nor on the women that figure substantially - Aubrey's wife Sofie and Diana Villiers, Maturin's (and for a time Aubrey's) love interest.
But there are no superheros, and it's based on novels, not comic books, and would need to be plot driven and adapted by a screenwriter who really understands the novels. Maybe better they don't do another one - we'll wind up with "Master and Commander 2: Gibraltar Drift." |
