Getting ready to make the move from DSL over to cable internet here at work... I have a tv in my office that is used for monitoring our security system. I was curious if there is a way I can piggy back off the cable internet to tap in to a few channels on cable? Is it as simple as just splicing the cable?

I believe you will need a receiver.

Depends on your cable provider, but most likely this.  Why not just ask how much for basic TV as part of your phone/internet package?

You may get a few channels, depends if they put a filter out at the tap to block video signal.

If the TV has the appropriate QAM tuner you should be able to get a few local channels.

You may not need cable service at all to get em.
