| WTF is this shit? Were movies really that crappy in the 70's? It's got 4 stars on Dish Networks tv guide......I wouldn't even give it 1. |

You probably drink Coors Light and like Ryan's Steakhouse too. Quoted:

LOL I like the movie. Interesting thoughts on "the future". I feel it is sort of on the same level with 1984 and A Brave New World. |

Oh, come off it!
How can one not appreciate an early role for DARTH VADER? But, gee-eee, these young-ins.....expecting everything to be to the standards, the ways of their time. ___________________________________________________________________ ("......maybe Vader someday later now he's just a small fry......", lyrics, (w,stte), "The Saga Begins" by Weird Al Yankovic) |
| I'm the only person I know who thinks that Avatar was a total piece of shit. It all looked badly rendered to me, not to mention that it was a direct rip-off of an old SF short story called "Call Me Joe". I can't recall the author, but that movie was a straight up theft of the story. |

SIGH, there you go!
Denying all those unwatched movies another chance, another day to be finally seen. Instead, now, we are motivated to put the next DVD into the machine, the next movie into the system, our copy, our access, of good ole Alex! He's not really a bad boy......just misunderstood! ________________________________________________________________________ ("Not crazy.....just misunderstood!"--Callisto, (w,stte), "Xena") |

I did like "Eyes wide shut"! Quoted:

Stanley Kubrick's movies are works of art. I'm not sure any other director could have made that movie...read the book and you'll understand. I did like "Eyes wide shut"! What about Full Metal Jacket and The Shining? |

It helped if you had read some of the book at least, plus, it made more sense in the condition I frequently found myself in back when I was 17. It's really , really deeeeeep. I watched it a few times then, and when I was in college, also in a very similar condition.
Having said that. I watched it again a few years ago, and I couldn't make hide nor hair of it. Just couldn't really follow it. |

It's classic post-modernist noir cinema.
Understanding the prmise of Burgess' novel and understanding something of British history really goes a long way in appreciating th subtleties in the film. It's probably not for everyone, and maybe today's youth is too 'evolved' to appreciate the base story. No CGI...no explosions....very little profanity....just acting. Good acting. |

Most people who didn't like the move never read the book. Take the time to read up on the language, then watch the movie again. I read the book then watched the movie and thought the movie was a letdown in comparison. But I pretty much think that about every book turned into a movie.

One of the few movies I still find disturbing. It purred away real horrorshow. After the first half, the audience wouldn't care if Alex was hanged until the rope rotted away. Into the second half when everyone sees what happens when the STATE can rob a man of his freedom of will, sympathies change... |
