... that the .gov has fucked up for us during our lifetimes
I'll start with one from my dad: can no longer legally buy alcohol straight from the distributor and one from me: no fucking transferable machineguns since may of 1986 which made it damned difficult for my 6 year old ass to get in on the ground floor

When I was 13 years old, I was to hell and gone with some camping gear , a .22 rifle and a pocketful of bullets, as was my father before me. My parents had only a vague idea of what patch of woods I was inhabiting, I was responsible for my own actions and welfare.
My son will never know that freedom. |

Quoted: That thread would have NO responses. Can you think of any freedom untouched since your birth? Quoted: Quoted: A list of things that government hasn't fucked up in our lifetimes would be a more realistic goal. That thread would have NO responses. Can you think of any freedom untouched since your birth? A small number of areas of American life are more free. It's a short list, one many conservatives would bristle are unimportant or repugnant, but there are states where you can smoke MJ legally now, places where gays can marry and live like they want to, laws governing sex have fallen by the wayside, and some expressions of the 1st amendment are more free. But, overall, we're losing freedoms at a record pace. |

I regret freedom lost not to government, but to the whole of society. I can remember when kids could leave their house without worries of not coming home, thanks to sexual predators. I used to roam miles away from home without worry when I got my first bike. Today a kid is on a shorter leash than most people put on their dogs.
Kids who do not have that sort of freedom as children will grow up to be adults who will not realize the lack of freedoms the government is forcing onto them. |
